I promised myself I would not try to play and untangle the complicated chronology game, but darn it...I fell into that trap!The only thing we know for sure is Firelord Azulon's age at death: 95, as mentionned in an interview with the creators.
Iroh looks older than his brother Ozai, and it wouldn't be surprising if he was close to twice his age. So Iroh could be anywhere between 25-30 by the time Ozai was born, which could put Azulon in his 60's.
Alright, I'll stop here before I go in too deep and get confusticated with people's ages and chronology.
Still, when Iroh learned the news he would have a younger sibling, it must have come as quite a shock (happened to my cousins actually)!
Rough pencils: two thumbnails done on one 8,5X11 piece of paper. I just put the pages one above the other for easier reading. Just a bunch of talking heads again.
All characters belong to Bryan, Mike, Nickelodeon and Viacom. Trying to make sense of that world can cause headaches.

I've always considered Iroh to be in his early forties...his hair seemed to grey overnight, almost....black at Ba Sing Se, grey over Lu Ten's grave.
Incidentally, chronologically, Jeong Jeong apparently deserted the Fire Nation army when Zuko was a year old...hence, preventing him from being at Ba Sing Se...but you're the one having Iroh and Zhao order attacks upon Shipping Vessels and having Iroh give Zuko happy medication...not to mention planning domination of the world through tea shops....so, canonical glitches are easily excusable so long as it's funny (or serious), solid, and well-drawn. ^_^

I don't know if it is a later visit at his son's grave that we see. But it would be something if his hair turned white overnight. Oooh...
Really? JJ deserted the fire nation that long ago? I'll have to go back and listen to the episode, see if anything is mentionned. If it does, no problems: these notes can be fixed and tweaked to work around things. At this moment, we're still a few years away from Ba Sing Se so JJ could still be around.

Click on the little Aang symbol, or go to "Shows," and then "Avatar"....a map will come up with little dots in places for the episodes....you can navigate there, and there's a little box (I think it's right below the title) with "1-2" written in it....the screen should display Season 2 by default, but clicking the "1" takes you to Season 1, where there are all sorts of interesting tidbits....there are some glitches and such, but it's very informative and sometimes very amusing.
I think that's all you need for the navigation...it's a load of fun.

More like he choke on his own saliva or something. Or he breathed all wrong. No tea involved in that choking accident, the message was enough to cause that.

Ah, so tempting to have a little AU where Ozai would have been a little sister instead of a brother...hmmm...gotta pass though and finish what's already on my plate. If a good idea comes along though, who knows, I may not be able to resist.

Iroh definitely was the next one in line for sucession. If something had happened to him, Ozai would be next.
As to what happened to Iroh and his birthright, some of it is explained in one of the episodes of season 2 (Zuko Alone)

*whistles* And here little ol' me thought having a sibling seven years younger was a big deal. I imagine that'd be my reaction if my parents told me that I was getting another sibling as of now...I think the thought would break my brain...I can only imagine how awkward it would be for Iroh. Twenty plus years of only-child life would probably make it a big deal. Darn shame he didn't end up with a little sister though. I bet Iroh'd be a fun big brother. Instead he was wasted on Ozai...sigh. Things would have probably been very different though, if Ozai was a girl. Aw shoot there goes my imagination, off like a rocket on that what if...
