Description
This was the last project I was working one before... well... you know... But! luckily, I was able to upload the file beforehand! This is Jinx: a Bleach inspired OC for the contest Festival of 1000 Lanturns on Gaia...while she was young and still in ordinary shinigami form....Perhaps this pic merits an explaination: I saw that most Jinx entries were dark blue in terms of color scheme... to highlight on the color of her hair and clothing... so I thought I'd try something different. She's floating in a river somewhere in soul society (I was listening to "life is like a boat" by Rie Fu when I read the contest specs and was inspired) and wondering why her reflection doesn't disappear from the water, even when she's hitting it with her paddle. (magic water of the spirit frog?)She hasn't mastered her shikai/bankai yet... so her zanpakutou can't be summoned at will... it's watching over her from a distance...
This picture taught me a lot about background creation, and I hope that my efforts will be enjoyed as much as I enjoyed drawing ^^

I love this! A very simple picture of a very simple girl who yet has such an extraordinary future! Thanks for painting, and sharing, this picture with us!

Thanks! ^^ I was playing with the filters, and I found this one to be suitable for the water effect!

Hm... I'm not sure what it's called in English.. but...it does the 'zoom out' effect except, whetheras the vectors would travel away from the center in the 'zoom out', they travel up/down/left/right in this one along parallel and perpendicular lines... Like a blur effect along the lines of the Cartesian Coordinate vs. the Polar in the 'zoom out/in'...Do you know the one I'm talking about?

Ah... no, that's alright, if you don't know presently, you needn't go through the trouble... but yeah... that's what I used for the water ^^

Although I haven't a clue as to what's so special about the spirit of a frog (or is it the pet frog of a spirit xP), what the heck a bankai is, and why you would want to summon this strange thing called a zanpakutou, I still love this pic. xDDD
SugarButt is right; it is calming. And I like the fact that there's only one, actually defined flower in the foreground, with a few blurred (detail wise) flowers in the back.
Wait-ta-go, and I'm glad you're back and submitting.

Thanks! ^^ (I assume you don't watch bleach a lot, huh?) ^^ I'm so happy that you noticed my little flower detail! (in the words of Kuwabarra: Flower Power!)
I'm glad to be back! ... though, I think, only to go on hiatus again soon... school is going to slurp my fluids up for appetizer, swallow my brains for main course, crunch on my bones for dessert, and make cute little wallets out of my intestines next year... no time for silly anime art!
(I've got a few more to finish before doomsday! Aug 20!)
...hopefully I'll have time for Infinity's and my pokemon idea, though...( I really wanted to draw that!!!) TT_TT

Gosh darn, /how/ do you come up with these metaphors and such? O.o xDDD
You never fail to amuse me my dear, but once we get int the swing of school again, I'm sure you'll still be able to work on pics every once in a while.

A balance between whether to detail... or whether to...not. Detail is good, but I feel that it takes awa from the foreground... what do you think?

naw...adds to it I think you make a world..not enough details ruins that effect

teehee... thanks for the advice...so this is what the art appreciator looks for in a picture, eh?
It's just that when I add detail... the foreground seems less... prominent... and oftentimes, I have to undo some of the details I add because I can;t see my own lineart (which, I suppose is a good thing sometimes?)
have you heard of the deviant ProdigyBombay?... I think she does a brilliant job with details because somehow... she can make it so that all the colors and textures that make a picture pop out don't clash with each other, and dimminish their own brilliance... I wish I can detail like her someday...TT_TT

I just looked her up, she is *amazing* I love her work, i have seen it once or twice before, I had faved her piece "PB & J" (b/c it sooooo adorable)
She's really good with colors, i wish I could be like either one of you. My art sucks, b/c I'm not incredibly computer savvy. I can only work with my hands...and even that bags for improvement... (sigh)

haha... anime invasion... I can definitely tell the influence, even in your realism...I hear it happens to a lot of artists: Anime->Real art... I suppose when get older, it'll happen to me too... ^^ I look foward to it! (Maybe my anime-realism will finally look good!)

I've been drawing since I could pick up a pen/marker/pencil (so, what a matter of months?) but I never grew it to that kind of level....I just recently took a shift toward more naturalistic images, i was heavily into cartooning before...can you tell? (My work doesn't really show it, I hit middle school and anime took over)
