Description
So I've been reaaaaally torn between whether or not to tone my pages lately, because I personally like what I'm doing more without the tones and when it's just all ink. I try to get away with minimal toning to begin with, but even that bothers me, probably because I really want to go all out if I'm going to tone at all but I choose not to. So maybe I should just... not tone at all...? x_x Or figure out a better balance that works for me?Wondering if anyone would care to input what they think, since what I think is purely personal preference.
Tone-less version:

The toning definitely helps in my opinion. It adds depth and more of a sense of believability.
Though, this looks great.

I like it with toning it adds to the effect of adding emotion and action to the panel and makes you page even more interestion than it already is but a variation between with and witout toning is good too^^

Toning definitely makes it look better. It gives it more depth and the background looks more...how to say it...alive?
I prefer to read an entire chapter at once so I'm waiting for you to finish Chapter 2 XD;

looooool xD;;; Yeahhh... oh man, how I wish I could make myself draw fast enough to release by chapters... though Chapter 2 is almost done actually.

Oh really? Well, I don't have to wait too long then? Though I'll probably have to re-read Chapter 1, I can't remember what happened in it
But I have no idea how to tell when a chapter has ended. I only know after you've put the first page of the next chapter >_>

Yeah, I'm trying to update every Friday atm, so if that goes well, chapter 2 will be done in mid-December.
Oh man, Chapter 1..... I'm dying to redraw/rewrite it, but I should probably put that on hold till I make enough buffer pages... orz
That is a good point. o.o Would you suggest I include something like "- Chapter 2 - End - " at the end of the chapter? I only planned on maybe mentioning that the chapter ended in the update note or something.

Hmm, I dunno, which ever way works? Though the update note would work too.
But redraw/rewrite it? Changing what happens in Chapter 1? Or...more content or similar things happening?
But you're never going to finish the comic if you keep on redraw/rewrite chapters...haha

Mmm, maybe not exactly "rewrite" entirely, but really just edit and polish up some things that are really nagging at me (which is a bigger problem for me art-wise), so the content is still the same.
Haha, yeah, that's why I want to make sure I have enough buffer pages of the new pages before I go back to edit anything at all. >.>

Ah, I see. I guess editing is fine if you're not satisfied with some of the parts.

it's up to you. I love both versions I just find that the tone brings out depth and shows dramatic scene's way better compared to just being lines.

I don't know who you are or what this is, but the toned page looks way better. It brings a lot of depth to your art, and makes it easier to distinguish between the characters at a glance. It also makes the gorgeous cross-hatching and shade-lines stand out and pop in a really nice manner. There are also little things, like making the dark-haired character's eyes stand out more, which you don't get from the non-toned page.

Thank you so much for your time and inputs!
I'm surprised you thought the tones actually brought out the cross-hatching and shade-lines, since I was a little bummed that it made them less noticeable, but I'm happy to be proved wrong!

Quite honestly, I didn't notice them at first in the non-toned pages (in part because they blended very well overall with the page). I had to glance back at the non-toned page to see if they were there or not
Overall, though, this is a very lovely piece - toned or not. =3

Both versions are good, but like others said, I think the tones make things pop. Your inking is fine the way it is (the way you can get depth out of it is really impressive).
Tones just add mood to everything, so it seems darker and edgier.

I like the toning better, also Like the other said, it gives it depth and dimension, as well as contrast. It's also good for setting mood - like the top left panel with the trees in the background somewhat darkenned by the tone... I can't put my finger on it, right now (maybe a sense of foreboding/panic?) but it just added depth of mood to the scene. It also doesn't look as 'flat' as the same page with no tones.

Both versions are beautiful, and while the inks look great without toning, the toning DOES add a lot of depth. Really makes stuff pop from the bg.

Ahh, okay. Thank you so much for the input! That actually made me realize that maybe I'm biased about toning because it tends to cover up lots of inking details which I spend hours on... which is just my selfishness speaking!

I personally like it better with toning. Although you had very nice shading and dimension originally, it just gives it the extra touch, and makes it more interesting to look at. Great job either way though, it looks fantastic!
