I really like that katana. *can't stop staring at it* For some reason, and I can't point out why, I really like it. Especially that red part in the blade.
Really nice picture in the overall, especially the design and anatomy. ^^ I get the feeling of your typical "bad ass hero" that gets into the job of being the hero and saving the day even though he really didn't want to. XD; I think it's his expression, most of all the mouth, his hand in the pocket and the relaxed way with which he handles his sword. ^^

Oh, and had I currently been working on a non-historical story (or manga) thenI would probably have been inspired by your picture, or that's the feel I get. But alas, that is not the case.
