They're still people, but they have a reputation for being more (ill-tempered) brawn than brains, by and large. They tend to keep to themselves, away from the main town, so they can go about mauling things in peace.

Ahh. It's sarcasm on Bonnie's part; they don't actually trade anybody for anything, but in Springtrap's case...well, it's tempting. (Hiring one on to help ward off dangerous critters, as Lolbit brings up, is a legitimate thing. But they're definitely getting paid for it.)

Arguably, the bee would be more useful in combat, since it can actually hit things. Unlike Springtrap, who tends to hit...himself. And the dusting fields aren't kind to anyone who isn't used to navigating through all that hidden plantlife, which Springtrap definitely isn't.
