“Empoleon, use surf!” You pointed towards a pokemon who was surrounded in darkness.

Empoleon listened to his command and rose up with a huge amount of water, rushing towards the other. The darker pokemon faded within the ground to dodge the attack and appeared behind Empoleon.

“Empoleon watch out!”

You shouted but it was too late, the pokemon used a shadow ball to smack into the back of Empoleon

“Empoleon!”

He fell to the floor but rose up once more, Empoleon was slightly hurt which brought you to concern…Could he really take any more of this, should you bring him back in?

“Empoleon, it is time to come back-“

“No I am fine…”

“Are you sure?”

Empoleon nodded and waited for his next command.

“Use drill peck.”

Empoleon grinned before he spun in a circle aiming for the pokemon once more hitting it direct in the stomach, you clenched your fists tightly waiting for it to weaken.

“I don’t want to use the master ball yet…” You mumbled.

The battle carried on going but Empoleon was getting worse, though he refused to go back into his pokeball.

“Empoleon please! You rushed over to stop him but he moved you back.

“After this use the ultra-ball!”

“Ok…Use surf once more!”

He listened once more and used his attack watching the pokemon go down to his knees. You quickly threw the ultra-ball to catch the pokemon named Darkrai, your hart began to thumb as you waited and waited till it eventually stopped moving.

“Eh! I caught myself a Darkrai!”

You jumped up and down before you ran over to pick up the pokeball with a huge smile. You then went over to Empoleon to pet his head gently

“Thank you for your hard work.”

Empoleon smiled before he was sent back into the pokeball. You then stared at the ultra-ball before wondering what kind of adventure will lie ahead with this new pokemon you have now.

A few weeks had past as you won battle after battle. You used Empoleon, Darkrai and the other pokemons you had. Strangely Darkrai was not being so close…He seemed like he just wanted to fight. Even when you gave him affection he just simply ignored it. You let out a slight huff before you wondered what to do to make Darkrai accept your affection.
“Hmm…”

Plan 1 a simple hug!
“Well done Darkrai! Let’s hug!”
You would rush over to the male to hug him but you just went through his body and splat straight into the mud.
“Ew! No!” You got up and shook the mud of but of course you went to have a bath…”Back to the drawing board.”

Plan 2 pokemon food!
You threw your six pokemons out and got their pokemon good, you noticed straight away that Darkrai would float away from the others only to keep his distance away from everyone.
“Darkrai, wait…”
You called out towards him and followed after him.
“What is it you want human?”
“I just want to get along…It is not all about fighting….If you lose I will still be fine with it….”
You spoke and pulled out the food especially for Darkrai and handed it to him.
“I don’t need your human affection or the food…”
“Oh…Ok.”

Plan 3 whatever comes to mind!”
You walked into the tall grass and then spotted a Raichu. You grabbed a hold of a pokeball and threw it up only to send out Darkrai.
“Ok let’s do this! Darkrai use quick attack.”
The male rushed ahead attacking the Raichu. It hit directly into him sending the other back.
“Raichu, what are you doing?”
The pokemon got up and ran off towards his owner. You stood there and saw a male with a menacing look
“Hey, kid let’s battle!”
“S-sure.”
“Whoever wins gets to keep Darkrai!”
“Wait, what no-“
“Don’t back down from a fight ___, now let’s get this over with.” Darkrai spoke and looked ahead at the bad male.
“Machamp! Come out!” the male said after he threw the pokeball up in the air.
Darkrai flinched slightly when he saw the other pokemon come out. He knew it was his weakness but he stood there strong.
“Darkrai, use double team and then quick attack!”
The male began to split a few times making loads of him appear, he then ran fast around the pokemon getting ready to attack.
“Machamp, concentrate and use karate chop!”
His pokemon listened but waited, Darkrai then attacked all ten of him attacked at once. Machamp stood there not attack until he sensed the right one before hitting him straight on the head. This had caused Darkrai to smack into the ground as the ground under him slightly crumbled.
“Darkrai!” You rushed over to him to check on him. “Are you ok-“
“I'm fine human…”
Darkrai forced himself up before he rushed forward on his own using the same attack
“Wait!”
“Finish it off Machamp.”
You stood there scared thinking you were about to lose the pokemon you wanted to be close too. Your body than moved in front of Darkrai taking the attack for him. Darkrai watched in horror when you took the attack for him. But he quickly grabbed your body.
“Why?!” He asked.
“I just wanted to be friends, not just your owner.”
“Such a stupid human…” Darkrai looked at the snickering human but then he saw no more…The two had vanished leaving the male and his pokemon behind.
“No!” He shouted and then got annoyed when he got nothing in return.
The male put you down on the floor seeing the wound had gotten worse….He was not sure what to do but searched until he found some herbs. Darkrai began to crush them until it was ok to rub onto the wound you had on your forehead.
“Thank you…” You smiled softly towards the other.
Darkrai sat there on his knees still confused. He wondered why a human would do such a thing would…After a few hours past you laid there asleep with the other pokemons surrounding you.
“I hope ____ wakes up…” Empoleon said to then glance over at Darkrai.
“She was the one who decided to get in the way-“
Empoleon clicked his tongue and used furry attack, he did not even hold back as he attacked. Darkrai on the other hand dodged the attack while the other pokemons began to panic as they watched the two trying to stop them.
“Tch…If you really want to fight then do better than that!”
Darkrai taunted Empoleon before he felt a head smack into his stomach like a missile. While the other was talking Empoleon used Aqua jet though he combined this move with Drill peck making it much more deadly. As it made contact into the other, Darkrai spat out some saliva as he smacked into the tree trunk behind him

“Is that all you got…” He coughed and struggled to stand back up
Empoleon was now even more annoyed than before, he then got ready to attack once more but stopped himself when he saw you with your hands up right in front of him.
“Stop it! This is no time to fight…Please Empoleon.” You reached up and gently stroked his hair. Darkrai watched this but then he looked away with slight annoyance. He did not know why but he felt odd.
“Just go back inside your own pokeballs….All of you.”
You held up all six pokeballs and made each and every one of them go back inside. Once all of them where in you had passed out on the floor due to the sudden movements to stop the fight…As you laid there on the floor you gripped onto your head wound hoping it had not opened while you moved.

A week had past and you were back on your feet.
“Empoleon, use furry attack and then finish it off with Aqua jet!” Empoleon did what he was told too and claimed the victory you smiled and rubbed your forehead against the others while stroking his hair.
“Thank you for the hard work.”
You made Empoleon fade back into his pokeball. You bowed your head towards the trainer before leaving the area, as you walked you slightly tripped up your own shoelace. You crouched down and started to tie it up. As you did so a shadow emerged from in front making you look up to see the male who almost took Darkrai. You reacted and jumped back slightly stumbling backwards before covering the ultra-ball that Darkrai was in.
“What is it you want…?”
“Oh don’t worry I don’t want your pathetic pokemon just a battle…of course I want to humiliate you with just one pokemon…That is right a one on one fight.”
“I will not lose…I hope you are ready Darkrai.” You mumbled before throwing the Ultra-ball into the air.
Darkrai emerged in front of you but facing his opponent.
“Ready.” He sound more different than before…he wanted his revenge so now he will get it
The other male took out Machamp again and told him to attack without warning
“Dodge it by using double team and then use quick attack!”
Darkrai listened, he dodged the first attack and used his own hitting Machamp sending him back. The older male clicked his tongue in annoyance to then make Machamp use brick brake.
“Dodge it once more and use hypnosis”
Darkrai rushed over towards Machamp, he first dodged the attack and then used his hypnosis on him to fall asleep.
“Machamp quickly dodge!”
It was too late the pokemon had fallen to the ground and laid there asleep.
“No, wait! This is not over!"
The other gritted his teeth but made Machamp go back into the pokeball, you then watched as he ran away but rather than standing there you rushed over to Darkrai to give him a hug.
“Ah!”
You suddenly realised that you will just go through his body only to fall on the floor but instead you felt a pair of arms wrap around you.
“Sorry, I never understood your feelings…”
Your eyes shifted up towards Darkrai who stood there with you in his arms. A soft smile plastered across his face.
“I guess it just needed to take some time…”
You mumbled as you smiled up towards him but noticed how close he had gotten.
“Y-you did great Darkrai.”
Darkrai got closer, each time he did you moved your head back but it was too late. His lips pressed against yours softly…The feeling of being kissed for the first time caused your stomach to tighten as well as your cheeks becoming a light shade of pink. You soon pulled back and covered your lips.
“Why…” You muffled behind your hands.
“Well…you always gave affection towards Empoleon and I saw two people show it on the lips…”
You stared at him before you let out a soft sigh…You reached up with both your hands to cup his cheeks.
“This is the affection level ok? First the forehead.” You pecked his forehead to show him the first level…as your lips parted for him forehead you lowered yourself towards his lips.
“And the highest level…”
You spoke softly before you placed your lips upon his…as you did so Darkrai’s cheeks changed a slight pink colour…You then pulled back with a smile upon your face.
“Now each time we win I will give you different levels of affection.”
Darkrai’s blush became redder as he nodded agreeing to win a lot of battles…but he was happy that they would be getting closer like the other pokemons you had.

“Hehe, let’s do amazing and becoming number one trainer and pokemons!”
