the boss didn't want a male secretary, and cause of law that prohibit companies from not hiring based on sex, the next available option is to change said candidate to the more pleasing view for said boss, and as karl had the better references and skill set he was the more appropriate choice, so 2 birds 1 stone

Hiring someone just for their looks is just as bad as forcing someone to look like the opposite gender just because you're a horny asshole who doesn't get enough at home.

It is illegal to hire and not hire someone on looks in the real world, but he wasn't hire for his looks, he was hired for his skill set and this isn't the real world, it's a picture, a fantasy picture that depicts something that isn't physically possible in the real world so the real world rules that you keep applying to these images don't apply, at all, so a fantasy made up company can hire a guy and tg them in to something more pleasing to the eye for said boss with out any repercussions, that's the great thing about fantasys no rules to abide by

It's also illegal to force changes on someone without their permission.
They should've said, "the job requires you to be changed into the opposite gender by us for the duration of your time at the office, do you agree?"
If they say no, then they can be rejected.
Though honestly, was he the only person applying for the job?
Normally they interview a bunch of people then call the one they want back.
They could've just hired one of the female applicants.
