“Yeah, I think about an hour. I was going out to the car and bang! I come to laying on a couple of trees.”
“Ya haven’t been to a doctor or someone?”
“That’ll have to wait. I’ve got this date at one. He’s driving through and it’s the first chance we have to meet.”
“but, but you’re …”
She looked at her left wrist and then at the people.
A young guy in jeans calls up “1:20”
“Sh*t! He’s gone by now. Is this the restaurant next to the chocolate shop.”
“Yep..”
“Yeh, looked like it from here too… the phone’s in my purse and…”
Silence and then an idea.
“I know his email. ‘anyone send a text using that?”

I love her refusal to give up on the date as well! Nice render, and nice story. I can imagine someone refusing to accept what's happened by continuing as though everything is normal. I do hope that she keeps taking things in stride...

It appears to have been a sudden change and she's probably in shock.. sometimes you focus on what you've been obsessing about. She's been waiting for this for a long time.

At least the restaurant has an outdoor seating area. If her date does show, they'll still be able to eat. Hopefully there's an all you can eat special, or it might end up quite an expensive date.

Also so like, did her date bail on her after seeing how huge she is or did he get the date/time/place wrong or something? I hope he didn't bail, between that and the authorities coming I feel bad for the poor girl ;_;
