That little smile kept with her as the Land Rover SUV backed up. She’d be a lousy poker player. Adam knew she was hiding something.

She stopped and shifted into Drive using the enormous shift grip. He once loved driving.. The feel of the stick shift in his VW as he would slide through corners. And then there was the adventure of the road trip. A total break from the rest of life.

Riding like this was frustrating. You couldn’t see where you were going. Every now and then you could see a building, but other than that it was mostly sky and tracks on one side and Sigrún on the other. Not that he minded looking at her, but it made him feel trapped and insignificant.

A few minutes of driving and the car warmed up. Unexpectedly she she signaled and pulled over to the curb in a residential area. At least that’s what it seemed like. She hadn’t been going that fast and there were trees on both sides of the car now.

I don’t know about you, but its so hot in here…

With a little wink she struggled out of her jacket and then reached over to him releasing the cords on the Barbie seat.

Surprise! I thought about it a lot and the flight really was too risky. I love road trips and you said you like them too. The plan is to go South towards good weather and stay any place we can along the way. We get a new experience every day rather than being stuck in one place getting bored.

She was twisted around with her left hand now in front of him.

Sir, would you give me the honor of serving as the co-navigator?

His laugh was close enough to being a yes and he climbed onboard as her fingers closed around him. Then they were face to face.
