Description Wow, it has been a while huh? I've decided to switch to digital art, hope you like it

Here's a very distant descendent of the masked-lapwing, a famously territorial, loud and "venomous" bird native to Australia. Commonly confused with the plover, a completely unrelated bird, the lapwing has gained a reputation for its ferocious defense of its chicks and conical wing spurs, which are often misconceived as being venomous or capable of a sting, when in reality they are a seldom-used defensive structure.

The black-streaked spurwing (Ptilotitanodon Ferotarsus) roams the lowland deserts of a much more northern Australia, one that has drifted into the full swing of the heated and dry equator 50 million years into the future. These plains were once lush Australian forests and woodlands however, mass flooding as part of a climate-caused mass extinction caused the abundant biome to be wiped from this part of the Island, replacing it with starkly dry lowlands scattered by eroded iron-rich cliff-faces, the ideal habitat of a much larger and flightless lapwing.

About the height of a large kangaroo, this terrestrial tyrant has convergently evolved with the ratites as well as the long extinct moa-nalo birds of Hawaii, through their powerful legs, small wings and modified beaks respectively. The once harmless spurs on their wings have also evolved into capable talons for tearing apart prey and predators alike.
