Nice butt.  It explains your technique to a degree.  With a smidge of trial and error it is easy to decide on a method that works best for the individual artist.

u mean the opacity? I dont usually do lines, its just sketch and then just kind of..sculpt my way thru. But my sketch brush is usually somewhere in between 70 and 85

So I tried doing this method on a sphere; blended as best as I could but when I apply the colour, it doesn't look right. Like I can see make out the gray you know?

uhh. this doesn't really agree with color theory though...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Rush--it In reply to BubblyBunnyBash [2015-06-09 19:34:15 +0000 UTC]

It doest really matter . Its about the shading and how to add color to it afterwards. If you want it to "agree" with colo theory all u need to do is add different colors on the color layers. Thats it C:

HotGum In reply to ??? [2015-05-06 02:53:33 +0000 UTC]

do you always color this way?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Rush--it In reply to HotGum [2015-05-06 03:22:05 +0000 UTC]

90% of the time i do step 1 to 3. There are various methods to color from grayscale and they are all good. I'm constantly switching those around.
I do try different things from time to time as well : ) thats why i said 90%

HotGum In reply to Rush--it [2015-05-06 04:20:48 +0000 UTC]

What various methods?  once it's grey-scaled, isn't it only able to color it with another layer  on top?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Rush--it In reply to HotGum [2015-05-06 05:20:11 +0000 UTC]

There are quite a few actually : )
U can use the lumi & shade layer, or a combo of multiply+overlay (this one is my favorite), u can also use a color instead of gray and the change the Hue, u can use gradient maps *^*.. You can use the hard light layer also xD There are quite a few :3

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HotGum In reply to Rush--it [2015-05-06 05:29:34 +0000 UTC]

oh my lol so which one you think is the best to get colors looking right?  i know some ways take longer than others to get correct colors

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Rush--it In reply to HotGum [2015-05-06 05:56:09 +0000 UTC]

i...dont know. Like....i always try to get the same kind of colors cuz thats how i want the picture to look like....
And im sorry about this answer, but i think what will be best is whatever you like the most xD I really like them all the same. The one i barely use is the gradient maps...and thats because my photoshop starting acting up and had to stop using it for drawings. But i might revisit that method again  : )

oh yeah! They all take about the same time for me xD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HotGum In reply to Rush--it [2015-05-06 06:21:51 +0000 UTC]

oh ok.  i've tried various ways myself on my spare time and wanted to know what you found was best for you.  I know everyone is different and prefers to do things differently, I just wanted your own view or opinion on the matter.  the gradient maps thing I still can't get the hang of.  I feel like i'm fighting the program too much when it comes to that method but have seen other artists do wonders with it.  I'll try the linear light layer method next time since it's the one I haven't tried yet.  Thanks!
