First tutorial i’ve done in years xDD and a pretty simple one : ) This is pretty much how i work.
For more information on Lumi & Shade check doxy’s tutorial. He explains a lot of whats going on when using that blending mode : )

oh well..the one i feel most comfortable with...its multiply+overlay. But thats cuz i havent got a hang of the lumi & shade yet : )

Yup. Tho the step 3 has a different approach. It's the same method, but in Sai you have a blending brush that paints and blend at the same time. In gimp u would have to use a brush at 70% hardness or so and use the color picker as you paint : ) Paint-Color pick-paint-color pick until you are happy with it : )

Also, there is an option in PS to use pressure sensitive opacity change (On drawing tablets; Harder the pressure the less transparent the colour will be).
