Another idea came to mind so I'm submitting 2.
Watercolors and guache. Kinda different from my normal stuff and I messed it up several times. >.< Overall I think I still got across what I trying to. Too big for my scanner and too lazy to piece together so you get a grainy photo shot.

The piece is based on that conversation between Relius and the Queen. I know they didn't wear masks- its an artistic liscence for what I wanted to portray.
I couldn't decide between two songs 'E is for Extinction' and 'Bring Me to Life' both by Thousand Foot Krutch.

TFK isn't the only band I listen to, they just seem to have songs that fit well with my perception of the Queen's Thief Series.
I also used [link] [link] to help with some of the poses/clothes.

The way you draw clothes is lovely. Have you ever considered drawing the stairwell scene from KoA? There's not much good fanart of that scene and it strikes me that you'd probably be the person to do it right.

Ah, I love it! The feel of it, the use of color/washed-out light, the expression, the overall tone - it's melancholy in a :> way, and overall excellent :')

Also, I know it's not kosher to comment on one's own comment, but:
I also love the thing of how it's set high-angle, as though you're looking down on the crowd. I think that's the thing that makes this piece really stand out: we're seeing Gen not as he sees himself, not as other people see him, but as how he really is seen, and how he is. He's so completely different from others, and everythign in this picture emphasizes that.
