Amadeo’s family was a genetic whirlpool of all sorts of disorders and illnesses. One that was a guaranteed genetic growth was Ophiocordyceps sinensis. While they were born with the parasite it was, and is, possible to keep the parasite from overgrowing and taking over. Throughout Ama’s early childhood his parents would constantly warn about the fungus that grew. To keep it clipped short, to keep it from reaching vital parts of the body. It was a tedious and time consuming task to day in and out tend to the aggressive parasite. Its usefulness for spores felt less and less of a gain and more of a burden to Ama.
Between two working parents, doctors no less, schooling was tough. He struggled with keeping his grades above the average, as well as having issues with keeping up with the class. It wasn’t that he was unintelligent, just heavily unfocused. This kept on throughout his adolescence and into his early teen years. While his parents only came through every so often wondering why or how he let his grades drop, yet not pushing further inquiries. Nonetheless he kept his head high in hopes for a better future. Now Ama was dealing with the changes from child to early teen along with seemingly uninterested parents, two siblings that appeared to have nothing wrong with them, and grades falling faster than a Wailord dropping out of the sky. Things were about as smooth as a poorly made sword. Ama’s only escape, seemingly, was at the beach during the dusk hours. Where he could look towards the multicolored sky and send a few prayers out to space. Praying and hoping for something good to finally happen for once. Ama would do his best to remain a beacon of hope for himself.
Through the age of sixteen to eighteen, he seemed to lose most of his positive outlook. Letting his self-care habits plummet, becoming more introverted, avoiding large crowds as much as possible, letting the cordyceps grow out then break them off rather than just clip them correctly. His parents were none the wiser as he seemed to be acting as per usual. Though by the time he hit eighteen he felt as though something was off. Like he was aware something was wrong but unsure as to what exactly. It felt like a creeping feeling at first, uncertainty would lead to double or even quadruple checking something. Just to be sure nothing or no one was inside the closet or outside of his room. Then it started growing into distrust in his friends and family members. Thoughts that they were going to come after him suddenly. It felt strange but frightening to suddenly feel like the world was turning against him. Finally, he began to try to express is concerns to his parents. Curious and concerned they listened to Ama express his sudden peak in anxious and paranoid behavior. While they didn’t at first want to jump to conclusions, they did ask Ama about his upkeep. When he failed to give a reply they first chastised their son for not heeding their warnings. Telling him of what was to come now that he had let the parasite grow on it’s own time. After they finished detailing, they offered comfort to him. Telling him that while there is no known cure at the time, that they would do whatever they could to keep him… Himself.
After that lot, everything was a downhill snowball. While he tried to keep up with the parasite’s spread, it became more and more painful to try and remove it. Soon enough it became embedded in certain parts of his body such as down the spine or near the wrists. Ama, at nineteen to twenty, seemed to end up with almost a duel sided personality. While he was still a positive introvert with artistic talents, at other times he could be nothing more than a whirlwind of fury and spores. Or even the opposite of the two and be petrified by thinking he saw someone walking in his house or hearing someone speaking in another room only to find he was indeed alone. It was hard adjusting to the weight that the changes had brought.
However, that was not his only challenge. Soon enough he had evolved into a Parasect at the age of twenty-two. The parasite intertwined itself with Ama, much to Ama’s disdain for it. He moved out of the home, for his own safety and for the safety of his siblings and family. During one of his parent’s visits to his home, they suggested he let them stay for about a week to observe him. To be sure nothing was out of the ordinary with Ama and the parasite. It was a hard task watching over him during that week. Having bouts of uncontrollable rage to moments of absolute stillness in apathy. It appeared that there was more than just the parasite touching Ama’s life. Sure enough he was diagnosed professionally with Paranoid Schizophrenia. The news wasn’t easy for any of them to swallow. But they, the parents, made a plan to actively try to involve themselves in Ama’s life to insure he can get the care he needs. Ama’s siblings understand the situation, and do make an effort to stop by when they’re available.

Amadeo now lives on the shoreline, in a house paid by his parents (who he pays rent to). While he lives alone, his family does stop by at least every two weeks. Partly to shoot the breeze but also to collect the more advanced form of cordyceps from Ama’s body for medical means and examination.

- Ama’s full on break down modes are a rare thing to see outside of his home. Even if he gets a sudden attack he tends to B-line it straight back to his house.
