They appear very frightening, but they're actually singing Don't Stop Believing by Journey in a barber shop quartet style over and over again forever and ever. So life in the void can't be all bad...Β

Did you ever hear of an old PC game called Nightmare Ned? There is a level in the game where you are wandering through a stage which is a giant mouth filled with rotten teeth and diseased gums. There are also "plaque-based" monsters and crazed dentists creeping around the teeth as well.

"biological" levels in video games were always one of my favorite settings.

Haha, wow I didn't know that existed but it's awesome. I love the atmosphere and monsters!

I am trying to get my own fantasy and RPG video game projects off of the ground and I have a similar "environment" in both places as a homage to this sort of trope. It is called the Living Fields which is basically a biomass that has grown into its own landscape complete with its own denizens as it buds off symbiotic creatures from its own biomass to perform various functions and it is also infested with parasites and plagued with diseases. The Living Fields could be said to be dimly intelligent but on the same level as a profoundly mentally-handicapped five-year old. It cannot understand speech other than mimicking what it perceives as sounds with no idea of what is being said with them.
It is almost like an idiot-savant in the sense that it does have an instinctive grasp of physiology and biology which is what has allowed it to exist for so long. It is constantly evolving and modifying itself to survive and defend itself from pests and hostile creatures.
Sorry for the little info-dump, but I tend to go off on tangents.

That's a really cool concept! I hope it'll become a finished game in the future. Let me know if you need a monster concept artist Β

The trouble is not so much monster concepts, just that the game itself is going to take a lot of programming in RPGMaker VX as well as sprite animation which I have never done before. Since I am the only one working on this, I am having to learn all of this on the fly. It would help if I had other people who have done something like this before to help me but I cannot afford to hire anybody and this is going to be such an odd game and be so time intensive to put together, volunteers have been scarce.
I do not want to turn your comments section into a forum, but if you want to know more, take a look in the folder I have for the project.
