casting off old memories
to drift beneath the currents deep
Shedding tears and shedding skin
the nicks and cuts of spiteful words
all fall away, as new thoughts form
counting the ripples that have captured
the glittering shafts of light
falling from the moon and bathe me
in the brilliance of the stars
and the cold embrace of the sea
