Description (For some reason it won't let me add this one exclusively to the Improvement-Club like with the other one <.<)

Original can be found here: [link]

I decided to look all the way in the back of the "correct me" folder because those people have waited the longest. <:3

Well, I'm just gonna dive right into it with a more detailed explanation here in the description to make sure that everything makes sense and add the parts that didn't fit in. Yet again because I don't know what kind of previous knowledge you have I will be explaining things ridiculously detailed, this is because I personally never liked when my teachers assumed I knew things I didn't and therefore skipped parts I had to learn the hard way by myself later on.

I guess I start from the top and work my way down.

1# The head is either too big or the shoulders too short. Proportional shoulders should be approximately the size of three heads place next to each other. To measure this you could, while drawing your guidelines, draw first the oval for the head and then draw three about equally sized ovals below where the shoulders are. One directly below the head and two at either side of it.

However if you don't feel like re-drawing the whole upper body you could just shrink the head a bit, take a look at my red-line to see what I'm getting at. Another thing I noticed, which I'm honestly surprised to seldom see mentioned in educational books and tutorials since it's an incredibly common misunderstanding, is that the head is very round but in reality the top part of the head is actually pretty flat. You can best see this when looking at the profile of a head(That's how I noticed it, it came to me while watching tv XD), here's a picture to show you what I mean: [link] It's not really flat-flat, it's rounded, but it's closer to being flat than to an oval. From the front: [link] And just for good measurement here's also a picture of the skull: [link]

Yeah, okay enough of that. I think you see my point! xD

2# The eyes aren't very manga but rather leans towards realism and in this case I think the styles clashes. If you want make some similar eyes but still keep drawings wholeness than you could try drawing something semi-realistic instead(Like the ones in the demonstration for example). Another thing I might add is the lack of eyelid. Doesn't have to be overly fancy unless you want it to be, just draw a short line straight above the eye to indicate the eyelid to make the eye more dynamic.

The eyebrows are placed too high but I can understand you drew them like that because of her glasses. Either you could make her glasses smaller OR you could draw the eyebrows within/overlaying the glasses. But how do I know where to place the eyebrows? I would like you to direct you back to the demonstration face I drew underneath and pay close attention to the red guidelines I drew circling the eyes. Not only the body has muscles but the face has a load of them too and one of them is called "obicularis oculi" and it's circling around the eyes and controls the eyelid and eyebrow's movement. It looks something like this: [link] In other words the red circle I drew around the eyes is a guideline for me to know where the obicularis oculi is and the eyebrows, when relaxed, should be placed at the top right where the muscle ends. (I think it's bigger than my drawing in reality but since it's manga everything doesn't have to be exact then we would be drawing realism) Try and keep this muscle somewhat in mind when drawing eyebrows and facial expressions if you're unsure where to place the eyebrows.

For ears have another look at the demonstration. A good thing to keep in mind is that ears normally goes between the bottom of the nose and the top of the eye(see yellow line). However this is relative, if you bend the head forward the ears you should place the ears higher up and by the same token if you bend the head backwards you should place the ears lower down. If you look in a mirror while bending you head forward you see that eventually it looks like the ears starts from the top of the eyes and up and if you bend the head backwards you eventually see that it looks like it starts from the bottom of the nose and down.

3# Phew, let's take a break from this whole flood of information... WHAT A CUTE KITTEH!! XD

4# Her right arm is too long(see purple line). The elbow when lining with the body should be in about waist height, this is difficult to see when the arm is outstretched though so use your fingers or a pencil to measure.

Her legs indicates that she's walking but the rest of her body language clearly indicates that she's standing still. If you still can't see it then try covering her legs with your hands and just look at the upper body.

Now this next part may be a bit of a... supplementary course... but since walking is a very common action it's very good to know.

Take another look at my red-line and notice first of all how her shoulders and hips are tilted and then take note of the blue lines. When a person walks not only the legs move but the rest of the body moves with it, especially the hips and shoulders. Now take a close look at the stick figures I drew and read what it says underneath carefully. While walking you put your weight at one leg at at time and thus is able to move forward(Or backwards, sideways, you get the point) now when you put your weight on your right leg(Like the girl in your drawing) the hips at that side tilts upwards while the shoulders at that side tilts downwards(In my drawing it's pretty exaggerated just so you know). The yellow line tells us where the weight is. The stick figure furtherest to the right however puts it's weight on it's left leg which causes the hips on the left side of the body to tilt upwards and the shoulders to point downwards.(If you have trouble remembering these things then just think about the blue lines and how the smallest gap always is at the same foot that bears the most weight). The middle stick figure is standing normally or in mid-step and thus the weight is on both feet and hips and shoulders goes back to being straight.

5# I thought the arms looked unnatural so I changed them in my red-line to make them look less strained. If you try holding like she does with her left hand, you don't need a stick or anything, you find that it's very uncomfortable for the hand to bend that way and she would probably face a lot of problem using the stick holding like that. If you're ever unsure about a pose or something then I recommend looking for reference pictures or even trying the pose out for yourself preferably in front of full-body mirror, if the pose feels uncomfortable and unnatural for you there's a high possibility that it will LOOK uncomfortable and unnatural.

I'm unsure if you did this on purpose or not but don't avoid drawing hands, or feet, especially if you find them difficult to draw. It's a very bad habit among artists and you're only prolonging your learning process and thus hurting yourself! In fact if you feel you have difficulties drawing something then try drawing it more often instead. I used to have big problems with drawing hands, I still do, so I pulled out a few blank papers and for a while drew nothing but hands using references. Best thing I've ever done.

6# The clothes could use some more variation if you want them to be interesting to look at and with some well-placed folds, more saturated color(Especially since in your drawing the background is desaturated, just like the clothes) and more prominent shading your clothes would look way more dynamic!

Folding however is really not my terrority but I find a tutorial right here in this group: [link] I've only skimmed it so far but it seems awesome and very informative so I'm gonna check it out later and I recommend you do to. Another way to learn how to draw convincing folds is yet again using references and/or limn real life cloth like curtains, clothes, sheets etc.

7# This is really optional because I'm no expert on braids and I think your works but if you want them to be a little more realistic braid-like than this is kind of an "how-do-I-draw" thingy. xD I put numbers on the second braid to show you in what order I draw them.

Aaaaand I believe that's it! o.o; I hope you find this correction useful and that you can take help from some of my tips and pointers to be able to improve your art and be able to steer it in the direction you want it to take. I apologize for the massive wall of text of freaking DOOM, I just can't seem to be able to keep things short! Dx I promise my next correction will be much shorter, simpler and easier to swallow cuz I mean geez... =3=;; Btw If you're confounded by some of my statements feel free to ask and I will try to explain what I meant to my best abilities!

Cute Kitteh is cute : D

Now if I may criticize your critique I have a couple of things to say.
First of all I actually think that there's more motion in the original. Your pose looks like she's standing guard rather than walking. The feet are close and the arm is relaxed, it looks better than the original in general but this thing about the arm looking more natural took away some of the motion in the picture. (People move their arms when they walk.)
And also, your weight demonstration. Only Sexeh Ladies~ 8D walk like that xD But maybe you exaggerated to demonstrate a point.

And also, oh great professormasterteachersensei! I don't learn things in my school because my teachers aren't annoying like yours but... Eh... What's a Saturated/Desaturated colour? ^^'

Yes, indeed~ #w#

Oho! Do I smell a debate in the air? How intriguing~

I have no choice but to agree to that because I was thinking the exact same thing while drawing it I was hoping no one would notice...(Damn you and your hawk eyes, you meerkat!! D: ) xD It could be because it's just a sketch though and not a finished product like the original but I dunno. I was contemplating bringing up how to use the body language to make her look more scared/frightened since that's what I thought the artist was going after. One look at the text made me rethink that though so I tried concentrating on the anatomy in general instead I did use it a little though and that's why I made the feet so close together because I tried making it look like she was taking small steps forward. If you walk into a pitch dark room you automatically take small cautious steps(Was what I thought).

People do move their arm when they walk BUT not while holding something in front of them or with both hands. One of the reason you hold something with both hands is to be able to keep it steady. I don't have a stick or something to prove this theory with but I tried holding a glass while walking it moved possibly a little up and down from the slight sway when you walk but was otherwise steady. I think the arms are fine but I agree that I could have made her take a longer step and that would have been enough to give the picture more motion.

Well who doesn't like Sexeh Ladies~ 8D but yes, I exaggerated that XD I even wrote that as a heads-up in my Text-wall of Doom!

My teachers sucks and got nothing to do with that I figured that one out all by myself(This weekend actually...) o3o but saturated color is, like I wrote, a pure unmixed color. A color from the spectrum that has remained untainted by neither black nor white and therefore pretty intense. A desaturated color is the opposite; a color where you have added either white to make it lighter or black to make it darker.

I just can't keep things short, can I...? 8^8 I love art too much I can't stop talking about it....

Well I also love art so I have no problem reading about it. x] (still I missed something in the wall of text fail)

Maybe holding the stick like that makes sense. But... maybe it shouldn't make sense! The action poses in Naruto is great even tough they realistically look very unnatural. Or the Soul Eater manga (Read It!) is also a pretty extreme example of "wtf-what-muscles-did-he-use-to-do-that-I-don't-care-it's-awesome 8D" My point is that I would usually chose the impact of a pose over it's logic. Tough I'm no longer sure about it in this case

What a relief! It makes me so happy to have someone to geek about art with~ ^^

That's all right :3 the Textwall of Doom though is very offended and is already
plotting it's vengeance against you! Be afraid, be very afraid!! D:

Oh, trust me, I'm all for nonsensical action poses!! 8D If you can pull them off
then that just blows my mind! Like BANG!! On the other hand those poses are usually
VERY hard to pull off and it takes a lot of skill to pull them off D: it pains me to
say this but if you want to be able to do nonsensical poses I think you have to start
with those that makes sense first. It's not as much fun, I was in so much denial about
this thought before, but the best way to start is by learning the basics <:3 You have to
crawl before you can run.

I know, I know! I really should start reading Soul Eater before it gets too far ahead
of me!(Cuz it's not finished yet is it?) o.o;

My heart is pounding. My mind is going blank. I can't move, want to just disappear. I am afraid, very afraid o_o

Yeah I also think you should start with the things that makes sense. Or.. you know, what the hell, study both things at the same time? that should work. x]
I'm happy you're over your "denial of realism" tough x3
And also I think poses that are relaxed and make sense are in general more important because no manga is action 100% of the time

Soul eater is not finished yet no
