Description The fourth page shows representatives of two familes of tailless amphibians: Bombinatoridae and Pelobatidae. The european fire-bellied toad is a common amphibian species in standing water bodies of the country. Their singing can be heard in the spring. The yellow-bellied toad is common only in the Carpathian region. Bombinatoridae are one of the most poisonous Ukrainian amphibians. Although the poison is not fatal, it can cause discomfort if it gets into the eyes. Pallas' spadefoot was previously considered a subspecies of the common spadefoot. They differ purely genetically. In case of danger, spadefoots also secrete poison that smells like garlic.
