The next page shows two species of tree frogs, previously considered subspecies of a single species - Hyla arborea. However, recent genetic studies have identified a separate species - Hyla orientalis, which is distributed throughout most of the country. These frogs spend most of their time in trees and bushes, descending into bodies of water only to breed. Sticky suction cups on their fingers help them climb branches. Males have a vocal sac that swells to produce a loud sound, thus attracting a mate.
