How big are these, like, in nature? Just wondering..

I draw them horizontal in a 9x12 inches sketchbook. I donΒ΄t fill in the entire page though, as you can see.

Oh god, I just realized I'm trying to pull someone down again while trying to "help"... Or voice what I think I see... Sorry lad

So it's around A4. Those lines look like you're stiffening your pen. It's not a world-breaker, though.

RV1994 In reply to TeppoYlitalo [2012-08-21 19:20:34 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, almost like an A4. What lines are you talking about?

Well, uhh, As I look at it, whole batman seems a bit forced... His cape outlines are looking good though, and Joker's hair looks just superb, it just needs a little line width variety to show more of the shadows...in the outlines of the hair, that is. And I don't like how those small lines breaking the outlines of shadows work there, I like more what I did with my 3 recent sketches' Robin piece, but he's a sucker other than his shading in the torso, lol ... I like pressing down the flat point of a mechanical lead or pencil and then flick it to the way I want it to get thinner, but that might be my personal liking...

Oh, now i see! Yes, that is because im using different brand leads, and this one was particularly hard, even for an hb. But still dont understand the little lines you are talking about...

[link] I feel like it's a little like this was for me back then.. But the best way to make it work is just to keep doing loose drawing and working on your confidence and learning about those things that are necessary to do a good drawing...I guess

TeppoYlitalo In reply to RV1994 [2012-08-22 12:40:31 +0000 UTC]

It's a little hard to explain... It's like there's no flow in your lines I guess... Like you're doing it without any sketched guidelines and it's stiff like that... It doesn't have life.

Belive me, those drawings are nothing withuot the structure underneath. 20 of the 30 minutes i spend on each one are for sketching the figure, prportions etc. I was to uncomfortable drawing that batman because of the lead i was using, and thats the reason it seems rough, maybe forced. But the point is to draw at least a character a day, so i can try new thing, new shadings, new characters, etc.
