Woah... the foot in the water, and just the water itself, is what impresses me most. How were you able to do that? What's cast clear?

rvbhal In reply to ZimmyRose [2015-04-30 21:58:13 +0000 UTC]
The base was cast in clear resin . Β I Β did not paint it .
But i believe the person Β drilled from the underside and painted a foot there thus Β faking it under water ...Β

A pintura nΓ£o e minha nΓ£o . (Quem pintou foi Jim Capone. Uma fera .)
Nem a produção , casting.
Mas sim, o produtor usou resina transparente para a base .
Obrigado !

Amazing job. Paint, sculpture, base. How is she on the other side? Did you just work on her back?

My main goal was her back , yes .
The other side is not note worthy .

I may have asked you before but what material do us use for modelling and how do you achieve such a high level of finish. Any tips would be very welcome.

sculpey firm . Sanding and rubbing with cloth wheels .

I have never heard of sculpy firm. Does it set/ go hard to allow you to sand it. I am using chavant which is like plasticine . It 'gives, you nothing apart from the fact it doesn't dry out so no need to wrap it up like clay. Sculpy firm sounds interesting but not sure it is sold in the UK. Thanks and keep in touch. P.s had another look at your work and it is beautiful. How long does it take you to make a piece ? Mike

Sculpey is the brand . The real name is polymer clay .
When baked at 130 C it gets hard .
Chavant is oil clay . Nice , but a bit messier to work with and ,
not so good for details . Of course that depends on each one of us .
It takes around two months to make a piece . More or less.
All the best Mike !

Thanks Roberto,
I will try and find a supplier here in the UK and give it a try. Like you I seem to spend a long time on a piece and often get frustrated because I want to move on and start something new. So many ideas and not enough hours in the day. Trying to set up at our house in south west France but it will take at least another year before I can spend enough time to start making sculptures there.
keep in touch,
Mike
