Description
I map I made for DawnofVictory2289 , the alternate history project that introduced me to alternate history to begin with. The basic premise is that aliens known as the Scinfaxi invade before World War II, forcing humanity to unite against this alien threat. Most of the work focuses in the future, when humanity has colonized the Orion Arm, but this is a map of Earth during the late 20th century. Most southern hemisphere refugees are living in various communities in North America and the USSR. The southern hemisphere is devoid of all human life.

The only thing that I could ask/demand for is more information on the Scinfaxi. Beyond that take your own time and focus on whatever.

I wouldn't hold my breath for information on the Scinfaxi. Part of the point is that humanity in DoV doesn't know much about them.

Surely humanity has seen them or their equipment if they fought to wars with them.
So mainly those kind of images, or of the virus's effects or changes to the landscape, I imagine it as like the creep the Zerg use.
Speaking of Zerg you ever heard/read of The Swarm on the Somme timeline?
And how did Humanity far against them the second time around, as I got the impression they couldn't even slow them down.
If that's the case how did they survive with WWII tech?
I know the story takes place after everything on Earth is dead, but it still seems like a big plot gap in the backstory with so little on the Scinfaxi.

Humanity is familiar with Scinfaxi war machines, but the Scinfaxi themselves are still a mystery. Scinfaxi technology is weird.
I picture it being akin to red weed from War of the Worlds.
I have heard of it, but I have yet to read it.
The Second Scinfaxi War led to humanity fleeing Earth and destroying its biosphere with nuclear weapons.
The reason for the Scinfaxi stopping their advance in the First Scinfaxi War is mostly a mystery, but it did start after several atomic attacks by the humans.
There is some backstory on the Scinfaxi, but I'm not at liberty to disclose that at the moment.

Why hadn't the Scinfaxi already colonized all the other habitable planets that humanity is now in the process of claiming? Did they deliberately target earth as potential threat while ignoring empty worlds? Is there something special about earth that made it a suitable target while the other's weren't? Blind chance?
