Description
I'm the largest image in the 'Cover Story' for a new local magazine called, PULSE! The article is about a local guy named Scott Ephraim who took photos of interesting people every day for a year in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan. It took me a while to remember where the photo was taken and when, but I deciphered that it was last October at the White Lightning Warehouse. Thanks Scott!photo (c) 2009 Scott Ephraim

Cool. Any idea how they got that old school Bob Dylan cover effect on the photo?

That is a really interesting photo. The environment is intriguing and I like the way he cropped the figures.

yeah, the White Lightning Warehouse is like a giant kids club with a stage and lofts and a trapeze bar... lotsa underground kiddies tour through there and the warehouse is starting to make press releases, though it's a word-of-mouth location. the warehouse is owned by a pro-football player from iowa city who is spending his fortune buying up real estate in iowa city and providing opportunities like the warehouse.
really nifty things happen in this town...

I must say I feel like a snobby California elitist because I'm shocked that Iowa has such an awesome sounding place! Ig uess that shows me! Lol. It's nice to know there's other places besides CA that have fun clubs because once Otra graduates who knows if we'll be able to stay here.
But that's 3 years away. It sounds like you have a good nose for awesomness!

Iowa City is like a pocket of liberalism within the state... though, since gay marriage was declared constitutional and most likely voting the legalization of medical marijuana, this whole state is getting more radical by the second! As for clubs though... it's hard to maintain any real club in this town because the clientele is either students (half of which are under 21) and locals (who mainly stick to the bars they're comfortable with...) ...so if you're looking for hot nightclub action, Iowa City isn't really the most hoppin' spot. Though, nearby cities have them, and a weekend trip to chicago is doable.
This town is wonderful to raise kids, to go to school, to build strong-life-lasting connections, for its natural and cultural beauty, and for the ease of living here. It is often said that no one ever leaves Iowa City for long... and indeed it does have an ominous ability to bring one back.
I have aspirations to become mayor one day...

You running for mayor would be totally awesome! Otra and I always joke that we'd love to run for office just so that we could personally make public every crazy, kinky thing we've ever done. We'd have "I want to conquer the world" as our motivational song and we'd have a big power point presentation with lots of photos and diagrams of our naughtiness. It would be hysterical!

Well, you're obviously on my cabinet... before mayor, i shall be running (moseying?) for Student Body Government... which won't really go through the official channels so much as having public speeches, ribbon-cutting ceremonies, buttons, campaign trails and songs, whatever we can get and do. We can have 'official correspondence' and summit meetings... and cool titles, like Secretary of Naughty Affairs or whatever! The campaign is starting soon, probably after spring break... Welcome Aboard the Future!

Sounds great! Just so long as I don't have to read long proposals I'll join! In fact there should probably be a rule that all propsals should be given in the form of dramatic sock puppet proformances. We'll just be certain to film them all for our records.

AGREED! Sock Puppet press releases and conferences are also approved! And they must have silly voices! We can film the first one when i make it out there this summer!
