Description
Digital layouts there in that first scan, before I print that out I change it to a very light blue, print it out on 11×17 cardstock, and add more blue lines if needed. Like for other details or shaping up a figure. Then finished pencils on top.Related content

how you decide on layouts. i so struggle with the process of making a comic book period. i can see it all unfold in my head but i can never spill it onto the page

Brit is super thick-lined in the middle of the layout. Is this just happenstance, or did you do that for some reason? Maybe to make sure he remained the central image on the page?

Hey Ryan, this is awesome. I've started to draw with a Cintiq, and it has it's pros an cons. I like how the stuff comes out, but I take longer than when I use pencil. How long does it take you to finish a page from digital sketch to final pencils??

Hey Ryan - what size are you working your layouts at? Are they smaller than the final or are you working at size?

I just scanned a blueline comic page at 600 dpi and I work straight over that. And really, I zoom in and out the whole time. So its a bunch of different sizes.

Gotcha. I'm a little surprised you do your layouts so large, but that's great! Are you able to print the blue on your home printer? Or do you have to take it somewhere to do that?
