I thought this was really done interestingly and awesome. About your description, yeah I had some sort of Kingdom Hearts 2 nostalgia, because the merdude kind of does resemble Sora.

If i was a mermaid or merman in that situation i would see humans as weird alien that have copied the top of us. That's the kinda of feeling i get from this. i believe it shows the originality of You, the creator. wonderful, good job.

I absolutely love this. You can just see that there's a story behind this. I actually had to stop and scribble something down after seeing this magnificent picture. That's not something that happens to me very often.
