The target area is only two meters wide. It's a small thermal exhaust port, right below the main port. The shaft leads directly to the reactor system!

Y does a pokeball need a photospectometer? A photospectrometer gives you the breakdown of all the wavelengths present in the input light. I don't see how that would be used inside of the pokeball.
