Description
made with Ultrafractal 4.03 - Photoshop 7Here's a neat fractal shape I came up with using the "SpiraBrot" formula in as.ufm and some of Toby's fun Doodads II. Kinda weird shapes like cell division or egg fertilization. Or, another way I looked at it almost made me think it was saying its name was "Javastones" because it looks also maybe like coffee beans....or it could have been it was early morning and the coffee machine wasn't done yet - lol.
A neat thing to try is to make textures in UF and overlay them in Photoshop while using a filter like "emboss" or others on the texture layer.
Thanks for stopping by!
Rick

Something I would love to hang in a spot where I like to relax. Very eye catching shapes and textures. I see a lot of different things in it. Mostly organic with a robotic edge.

There's a really nice 3D effect to this, and a sort of creepy/mysterious atmosphere to it, too. My first impression was of some sort of mass of bulbous plants... with eyes!? Lol, very neat stuff.

Nice Rykk - one thing though, you may find problems doing larger renders when using the Photoshop or PSP emboss or sculpt functions (or did you work on a very large version from the start ?)

Thanks, Dave! The thing would be to render a huge texture layer in UF and emboss that...I think...? Haven't tried that...

The problem is that with emboss and sculpt the effect on a smaller image can't necessarily be replicated on a large one. On some work I did I ended up using a special black and white "emboss" layer that was processed at a smaller size but then resized up and added to the mix at the larger size, directly processing at the larger scale just didn't want to produce a result equivalent to the smaller version.

Yeah, I'm finding this to be true. So resizing up your embossed layer works pretty well?

It works, you've just got to be careful that it isn't too "blocky".
One idea I tried was resizing it too large (*2) then applying blur then resizing to the correct size and applying sharpen but that gets a little awkward if the size you actually want is large anyway.

Excellent work! The first thing that came to mind when I saw this (and even before I read the description) were migrating neurons....they look exactly like neuronal cells! The neurons climb up long thin extensions called glia...this deviation looks just like a diagram I have in my lecture notes Sorry to be a nerd but I just had an exam on all this stuff yesterday
