DraconianRain [2009-12-18 13:57:53 +0000 UTC]

the only advice I could give is to widen the female hips just a bit more because at the moment the shoulders are looking very broad. When that happens it makes the female take on a more male look. Males have a noticable V shape while females don't which you would probably already know.

The anatomy is great, it is excellent infact and done very well and professionally but the hips are just a little bit too small, even though she is suppose to be slender girl. Try to avoid a V shape when drawing women of any body type. Only male figures can get away with shoulders being wider than their hips but for a natural look for women, they tend to have theirs the same width or wider than their shoulders. That is my only critique. Please don't take it the wrong way. I am not trying to be rude but give you an honest critique and advice.

RyMantys In reply to DraconianRain [2009-12-18 14:50:18 +0000 UTC]

No problem, you're totally right, and I welcome all advices. I usually abide by the rule of wider hips for women, unless they're young waiflike teenagers. Also, the tutorial is intended to anime and manga beginners, and they tend to prefer drawing very slender girls.
But point taken! Maybe someday I'll do a "real woman" tutorial ^_^

DraconianRain In reply to RyMantys [2009-12-18 15:02:25 +0000 UTC]

^_^ glad to hear you took my advice well, it is rare that I critique or give advice but you show so much talent and potential just in that tutorial alone. I understand your aim though and you are quite right.

I have been doing manga for a long time now and it all comes down to knowing the basic aspects of the human body. I got into anime/manga because of how accurate it was yet it still managed to have cartoon elements. If you did make a tutorial on real women I'd love to see it <3 I love looking at tutorials.
