this took looooooong lol...part of it bcoz of my stubbornness in choosing the colours as i prefer to use bright colours which are more to their original colours instead of something like this which is all mixed with blue-ish green XDDD
anyways~needed to practice on a different lightingXDD
personally i dont think it is a weird piece for the theme 'happiness' at all...it's the first thing i thought of when i was looking for the nxt theme to work on
happiness wont have much of any value without sadness...
it's the pain that makes happiness something to sought after

G-pen nice to use!would definitely prefer to use it if i can control the ink flow better lol
(almost killed some parts when the ink decided to slide around and spread happily~)

CG : mouse + painter IX (most) + photoshopCS3 (texture+ reflections+colour changes+final adjsutments)
(btw...the weird symbols at the corner is my new signature~hohohohohohohooooo~)

Oh my god, amazing! This was so eye-catching from my inbox. 
I'm so happy to see you trying out depth, perspective and lighting in this picture! The improvement is clearly apparent in this picture.
I think you got the anatomy and such hands down, especially his shoulder- hip ratio. I must also comment how ingenious the whole setting is. The pipe design and broken glass is beautifully done.
You get 10/10 on creativity and concept for this, I mean this isn't the sort of thing I would expect for Happiness. Great execution and linework, and his expression is just perfect for this scene. He's finally free from his confinement and born into this world, even if artificial. Very meaningful piece.
As far as critique goes, I think that some more saturation around the boy would be better. Mainly because my attention goes straight to the pipes in the foreground because of their darkness, whereas the pastel colors on the boy and near him are much less in value. So, the difference in contrast detract from my viewing of the actual main character.
I suggest making the puddle and glass glow (which are both very well done btw, the broken glass and the flowing of the liquid is natural looking). This can counteract the value contrast by increasing the lively colors towards the main character. 
I'm being nitpicky though, and because I know you really like critique.

my complain = the ground too plain liao,maybe if u use brick like texture or u draw brick texture on the ground can bring better effect...coz he is staying at underground isit? use more dirt element.
