Wow, I'm not the only one to notice how Maho Shoujo and Kingdom Hearts are very similar to each other. It's part of the reason why I like the series.
Also, the Witches in Madoka Magica are a WHOLE LOT like the Heartless and Nobodies.
Just like the Witches, the Heartless were formerly Magical Warriors like the protagonists, until their personal power object (their Heart, or their Soul Gem), gotΒ tainted black, causing them to turn into one. And like the Heartless, the Witches also feed off the Negative Emotions of others, and can spawn their own minions, and they have features that relate to the person whom they were before, and more.
And it is the duty of the Magical Warriors in each (The Keybearers, or the Maho Shoujos), to take down these evil corrupted beings that were formerly Magical Warriors like themselves. On top of that, they usually look weird and abstracty in ways.
