It's the Zack that got his ass kicked by Sephiroth, Cloud by being a normal human not being infused by Mako at that time couldn't do a thing and yet he took down Sephiroth in a way he did. So yeah, watch that part of Crisis Core again, since at the ending, Cloud just lost the only friend he had. How would you feel then, huh?

What no xD Cloud was infused with mako energy too yah know xD he was just not strong enough to withstand it. Zack was not even clouds friend xD Cloud was asleep the entire game haha. Zack took on an entire army, defeated angeal and genesis. Cloud then wakes up, is stoned for the whole of 7, then got his ass kicked by a half assed sephiroth xD I would say Zack was better

He was infused with Mako after his fight with Sephiroth, in which he was badly hurt. No wonder, a normal Shinra soldier, who got enormous amount of Mako in him, was unconcious the whole time. And Zack got his ass kicked by Sephiroth, and that's it.
And what do you mean "stoned" for the entire 7? Got his ass kicked by Sephiroth? I think you are wrong in some things. Cloud was lost with his memories, and that's why Jenova manipulated him, since that's the only thing in which Jenova is actually good at. But after that it was Cloud who kicked Sephiroths ass. TWICE.

Kicked his ass once on his own, always had help from everyone else the rest of the time. Zack and Cloud were both left in the mako reactors for 5 years, zack was stronger and withstood it. Don't forget where Cloud got his power from, ZACK. He thought he was zack, that's why he became stronger. Zack was 1st class soldier. Cloud was only a lowely shinra trooper. If Zack was still alive and had grown the same cloud had, cloud would stand no chance. Zack was much stronger at the point he died. Now imagine them both leveling together.

From Zack? Man, get real, he got his strength from Mako. Zack also got his strength from Mako. Zack withstood that, because he was already infused with Mako, so he was accustomed to that. And again, Cloud was:
a) not infused with Mako before, like Zack was
b) was badly hurt from the Masamune in his belly
Zack may have gotten stronger after his fight with Sephiroth, but that's only because of MAKO. Now imagine, what would happen, if Cloud would recieve all that training from Angeal, that Zack did.

Yes cloud got his powers from zack. Why do you think he obtained all his memories and personality traits? All his flashbacks through Zack's eyes? Zack was stronger due to all of angeals training. Cloud then got that training through becoming Zack. Without Zack cloud is a nobody. By saying cloud is stronger than zack you are saying zack were stronger? Cloud pretty much IS zack. Just a weaker copy.

Cloud didn't had all of Zack memories, it's just he confused his memories with the Zack version of them. And what personality traits? He's completely different than Zack. Zack just told him "You're my leaving legacy" and you think that becaue of that, Cloud is Zack? That he's a nobody without him? He was confused at first, but after restoring his memories, he's 100% Cloud, and 0% that "Idiotic Hero" Zack. Because that's who Zack is, another hero that doesn't understand anything but still defeats everyone. That thing is for shounens, and that's the main reason why Zack isn't epic. He only saved Cloud, that's the plus he's got from me.
If you can't understand this, and still thinks that "Cloud got his powers from Zack", then this conversation is over.

XD I couldn't help but read all this conversation here and gosh, I can't believe I finally found someone who understands the story! You know, I'm tired of everyone saying that Cloud is a whinny bitch when they heard the story from a friend, or didn't take the time to read everything while playing the games. I study a lot of psychology to build characters and I can say or sure that what happened to Cloud is totally possible. He was a teenager when the events in Crisis Core happened and he suffered from a mild personality disorder caused by post traumatic stress. Plus, just before dying, Zack said "you are my living legacy", a gave his sword to Cloud. What could those words mean if you said them to a teenager who went through everything Cloud had to endure?
The only part I don't agree with you is that Zack is idiotic. Just because if you analyse all the Soldiers, they all seem to be humble guys from small towns, and Zack came from Gongaga, which is pretty country-side. In this kind of story, the kids grow up learning about Shinra deeds and how all Soldiers are heroes for everyone, and that everything they do is heroic. You see that it's a dream for many characters in the story to become a soldier 1st class, like the hero Sephiroth, and many times you notice that Shinra hides the true story from their personel. Zack is naive, he really believes he's living the "hero dream" and I think it's totally understandable, so I don't take his credit in the story too... I like his cute and optimistic personality : ) Plus, I really like how he's nice to the low levels, like Cloud.

I don't mean idiotic that "SOLDIER is a hero", but the way that he's just... well, stupid. The start of the game, if you wanted a little tutorial, they made it so that Cloud was giving lecture to everyone. Meaning, he was intelligent. Zack even when someone explained everything to him, he still didn't understand that. Simple example, Sephiroth explaining to SOLDIER 1st Class what exactly is materia. I think you will agree, that he should have known what it is, and for sure they explained to him what it is.
Everything else, his optimistic way, that he's nice to everyone, that's good, and I don't mind it, I like it in fact too. I just hate that the main character is... a moron. That kind of main character suits perfectly for shounens, like Naruto, Bleach, Fairy Tail, One Piece etc. but not for something like Final Fantasy VII. Especially, when they do it, that in the main game Cloud is the one explaining everything, not the other way around as it usually is.

Yeah, I understand your point ^^ I just think he's too slow. Sometimes he's so obsessed with his dreams that he forgets about a lot of important things that he's supposed to know, like the materia example you gave. I'd say he's kind of blind. And yeah, more suitable for a shounen, but maybe that was their goal all this time with Crisis Core, I don't know. Or maybe they wanted to give him a flaw, since Zack is very sympathetic, energetic, he's lucky and makes friends very easily... so he needed to have a flaw. XD too bad it was an inteligence one
