Description
Here it is, the final design for Mystigirl, based on the concept sketch I did for her one week ago!I did this drawing while I was at Lunacon 2006 (in New Jersey) on Friday. I was amazed to have actually finished this one so fast!
The usual deal: Inked with Sharpie and Micron .005, and colored with Tombow Brush Markers.
Mystigirl is © John Paul Cassidy (me)

You did this with markers? It hink thats pretty good
The bodies anatomy is off...slightly, but not much.
I think it's pretty trippy, you should draw some action scenes

You know I'm planning a comic for all this, right?
Well, I admit the anatomy is a bit weird, but I'm sort of cutting my teeth at improving it, though.
In case you didn't know, the style I was going for is a mixture of Jiro Kuwata (my favorite manga artist), Bruce Timm (BATMAN: TAS, JUSTICE LEAGUE) and Stephen Silver (the character designer for KIM POSSIBLE, CLERKS: TAS and DANNY PHANTOM). A semi-cartoony look.
And yes, I colored with markers, and I used a Sharpie marker for the outer edges, much like the bold edges in cartoon inking.
I've finished the comic's cover, BTW, but have yet to post it. I will soon, though!

You mean Stephen Silver, not Sterling.
And yes, he's a great artist! Very inspiring. Especially to Mike Krahulik (the co-creator of PENNY ARCADE, one of my favorite strips).
It's all right if you can't draw comics. But I will tell you this: I'm mostly self-taught!
I had to teach myself how to draw, especially using books, or even studying other artists and learning the basics. In my early teen years, I had to trace everything to teach myself how to draw (and study my tracings)! I even used to trace faces and figures on a piece of plastic right over the TV screen!
I had minor art training in high school, and much of what I learned was BORING! They didn't really teach me the things I wanted to learn. It's just artsy-fartsy stuff. John Kricfalusi (the creator of REN & STIMPY) will tell you about this, and he's very dismayed about schools not really teaching people how to draw.
BTW, you might be interested in a book called CREATING CHARACTERS WITH PERSONALITY, by Tom Bancroft, which is an excellent book on how to draw characters in any style. The book has guest artists teaching their skills in the book, one of which is FOP & DP creator Butch Hartman!

Oh wow, I'll look for that book! It's very interesting that you taught yourself. I also have taught myself how to draw, AND IT WAS NOT EASY.
So it's interesting that somebody shares my pain.
And Highschool art doesn't tech you how to draw. Well, they do sorta, but it's mostly on what ways you cna create art.

That is true about high school art classes.
But all I can say is, if you want to draw, pick a style that's right for you. I've experimented with all sorts of styles. For instance, I've experimented with the standard manga style as far back as 1984! Now, I'm sort of crossing it over with the kind of retro cartoon style I've fallen in love with.
Oh, BTW, it was sort of mentioned in my description, but the reason why the anatomy on Mystigirl Type B is a little off as you said is because, since I was at Lunacon and spent more time working in the Con Suite, I didn't quite have the luxury that I do back at home and other places. Plus, I wasn't feeling well. This was a very stuffy trip. Still, I liked how it came out!
