Here's the color version of a commission for .The original ink version is here [link] .
And here is the full page colored version by healthyinsanity [link] , and the panel 3 only colored version by him [link]
This was as fun to color as it was to ink. First I made these character plates [link] for color and design reference. I'm a major stickler for exactness.
The colors you see are a combination of toy and cartoon references. Again, major pat on the back to Seibertron . com (kowtow kowtow).

Yeah I referenced a pic of the ark from the TV show so it turned out similar (maybe too similar?). I like yours cuz the brightness is nice. In mine, everything blends into this ugly greenish brown...hehe

Yes, I nitched the Windcharger windowed back idea cuz all the red with his back and Gears' leg was causing problems. Funny though cuz now that his back is gray, it looks a lot bigger, hehe. He looks like a hunchback!

I liked it. But I had accepted when the green light was given that this would be a sperate continuity and as such not bound conventions seen in other TF mediums. So that way I avoided the straightjacketing "Its not like this in G1" mentality for the sole reason that it ISN'T the G1 continuity. It was never meant to be G1. Thus any changes are acceptable because history generally doesnt develop in exactly trhe same way in each timeline. Look at Marvel's shitty Ultimate comic line.
"Bumblebee talks and should be a Volkswagen" "Prime doesnt have a mouth" Correction G1 Bumblebee talks and is a Volkswagon. They didnt get anything wrong because in THIS universe Bumblebee is a mute Camaro and Prime has lips. I dont see why this is so hard to grasp. Boo hoo hoo get over it.
In G1 there was a Japanese cartoon continuity, an American cartoon continuity, a japanese manga continuity , an American comic continuity and a UK cartoon continuity, each with its own distinct differences. WHats one more continuity? Seriously.
The American cartoon wasnt a masterpiece of animation by any stretch. Did I love it? Yes. Do I still see how it had heavy animation and continuity flaws? Absolutely. And I can go back to those DVDs where they are safe and sound any time I like. And nothing Micheal Bay can do can EVER take that away from us. We have lost ABSOLUTELY NOTHING because of this film. Its all still there
I couldnt give two shits that Jazz didnt talk like Scatman Carruthers. This is an entirely new ball game and fans should get over it and accept it as such. That is if they truly are TF fans.
Save for Scorponok the CHARACTERIZATION was totally faithfull to G1. Prime was wise, Megatron hated fleshlings. Starscream was a weasel. (He may have even been the first jet to fire on Megatron so he could still be a backstabber) Ironhide was the gruff veteran. Jazz was the cool guy. Brawl was anger incarnate. Bonecrusher was a brawler. Ratchet was a healer first
I liked the movie and Ive been G1 since day one. And Im not going to apologize. The only aspect I didnt like was the Hacker subplot. Ill buy Micheal Bay a beer and give him a hearty pat on the back and congratulate him on a job well done. Because he DID do one and he's earned it.

Yeah good points overall. Though Bay did take a lot of liberties, and I just didn't like some of them, not cuz it was different than G1, just cuz I didn't like the ideas.

And if Bay did such a bad job, how do you explain that movie toys, especially Prime and Bumblebee are flying off the shelves? Sounds like he's done right by a lot of consumers. Theres no money in catering solely to a handfull of cranks who put the movie under the microscope looking for excuses to complain.

With the relentless amount of whing the fans do, and bashing everything that comes out, and they wonder why Hasbro doesnt treat them with no respect. Hasbro cant make a single thing without the fans mewling like little babies. If Bay catered solely to G1 fans that film would tank faster than a tachyon

I dont like the look of the new series or its toys. But Im not going to bash Hasbro for it. Bays a man trying to do his job so he can feed his family. Would ANYONE appreciate it if Bay came to where they worked and criticized what they did every step of the way the way fans did him? Would anyone appreciate it if he told them they should die and burn in Hell if they didnt do THEIR job the way Bay thinks it should be done? Id bet dollars to donuts they wouldnt, yet that's what Bay got everytime a single piece of info got out. Youll excuse me if I grow weary of hearing the same old rigamarole.
The ideas are harmless, and they can go back to their precious G1 world anytime you like. Its a movie after all.
None of this is directed at you personally. But theres only so much Bay bashing one could tank
