Description This is another entry for 's Violence theme contest. : D I wasn't going to enter the other entry - until she asked me too.

And then since everyone seems to love the style of the other one so much, I did this one the same. This was my general and first idea for this contest - Grimmjow - holding decapitated (sp?) heads. Because it's damn epic, that's why. Also I can say I was influenced by the fic Killer Instinct, by ~KamiKaze43v3r . Which is a damn amazing fic. This isn't fanart FOR IT, but this AND the first Predator pic was HEAVILY INFLUENCED by it.

Hope Storm likes it too. XD

..Originally he was going to be turned toward us part way and there was going to be dead bodies in the background. I didn;t want overkill though.
And ignore the pic part on the bottom although it kind of blends in.

I hope I didn't overdo the blood. Since I did good on the other one I have high hopes.

ALSO.

I DREW THIS IN THE ART ROOM.

WHERE I HAD LITTLE THIRTEEN YEAR OLDS LOOKING AT ME LIKE IT WAS INSANE.

BUT THEY WOULD ALSO COMPLIMENT IT.

SO YEAH I GUESS. xD

They are amazingly well done. are the acrylics watered down?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RzSumisu In reply to midnightsquirrel [2011-10-20 20:59:36 +0000 UTC]

Nope!

The only place I add water is to the edges of the blood, but thats only for effect. Other than that, not much water is used. sometimes if I have a pic I think needs a bit of a background, I will spread water over the acrylic and spread it out, but none on these two. So, just raw acrylic really.

Okay, how do you keep doing this? Seriously. I look at this and I see pretty, soothing brush strokes and colors... and then I realize, "Oh, that's blood." It's damn subversive, possibly evil. Good job.

I think it would be amazing to do these oriental type strokes for Transformers pictures, which I have to do soon. <3 I just need references and more paint. XD

I am glad you like it; they also seem to draw a lot of attention from people. : D

Thank you so much! Your comment made me laugh too. xD

Oh hell, yes! I'd love to see that happen. Hmm... what would you use for references? Character sketches, screenshots? The wiki pops into mind and I know I've mentioned the AllSpark Almanac before, although you said you were most familiar with Prime.

Your comment made me laugh too. xD

Ahahah. You're welcome, my dear.

It is one of the first things I thought about painting in this style. : D I have some pictures already saved onto my computer, and with the Transformers, everything is so systematic I shouldn't have too much trouble.

*Is looking at the Allspark Almanac on Amazon.* I. NEED. THIS. I get eighty dollars, HOPEFULLY this weekend. I can weed in and get it. AND if I go to the Syracuse Mall anytime I WILL HUNT DOWN that freaking comic bookstore and look for Transformers comics for inspiration as well. <3 Too bad Borders went under, I could have hassled someone to in store order it for me.

Mind you that I'm a non-artist speaking when I say this, but I think one of the challenges in drawing Transformers is letting go of human anatomy and proportion. They don't work by the same rules- some parts naturally aren't there, proportions don't have a standard length because it's really what works for the vehicle mode. Whenever someone draws a Transformer with butt-cleavage, I cry on the inside.

Too bad Borders went under, I could have hassled someone to in store order it for me.

Barnes and Noble? Can they still be harassed? Damn IDW needs to do another print run!

RzSumisu In reply to TavalyaRa [2011-10-25 19:52:11 +0000 UTC]

LOL! I didn't mean like human systematic, I meant like just how it is the lines and wires and since it has to be a certain way - UNLIKE drawing humans. And that there is more natural detail. I saw a picture of Prime!Screamer with an actual butt and I - man, I just found it hilarious. They arn't transformers if they have human qualities - I think that is what makes it fun.

There are no Barnes and Noble around here! I searched the comic book store last weekend on the basement level of the Carousal mall and all they had was that COMPLETE colection book and like eight movie based comics.

TavalyaRa In reply to RzSumisu [2011-10-26 02:01:21 +0000 UTC]

Exactly! Part of the appeal is that they're not like humans. Emotionally and with interpersonal relationships there is a lot of overlap- those core traits transcend just being human and apply to both species, but Cybertrons DO have souls after all! But physically? Nope. And that's going to shape a lot of experiences they do or do not have and their frame of reference. And hell, it's just more fun to figure out how giant robots get it on if they don't have bits- why would they?

I'm not sure I ever saw the Almanacs in stores. I ordered everything off Amazon. :/

It makes everything have a unique touch. Their speech and even personalities, their background and ESPECIALLY relationships and looks like you said. It makes everything just - so damn awesome! xD And then some of it you get to use your imagination on just like you were saying and I love something where not only is it unique on its own but then you can add your own creativity to it and it's not botching the characters.

I will most likely end up getting everything from Amazon as well. : D

Word.

Amazon is great when they're the primary seller- they usually sell for much cheaper than everywhere else. But once things go out of print and you're dealing with Amazon vendors, expect a markup. It was the best place to get the AA and AA2 when it was first printed. Now, it may not be.

They still have pretty good prices for both of the books actually; and I have also been using the 'used' vendor things on the side also. I am quite sure I can get some good deals, because even the new ones are cheaper. I may end up ordering a couple of things tonight depending on what they come too.

I haven't checked prices recently- glad to hear it! Another thing to check out would be "The Arrival"- it's a collection of comics that takes place during Season One. They're in continuity and done by the show's writers. It's like having a bunch of mini-episodes in your pocket. (Except for the last comic, which is all about the Jettwins. That one is crap to convince you to buy their toy. I hates them. Yes, "hates". Gollem.)

I was worried about things looking bad in this, but I had a lot of fun with the strokes of the hair on the heads. <3 And I kept thinking, "I don't want a clice amount of blood." Like the people who overdo it and then it looks bad.

I have seen some of the entries for blackstorm's contest, and they seriously... like, some of the blood splotches are cool looking, and then they just spread it ALL over the place.

And it looks dumb. Like, ketchup, as you said. XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PanteraSunrise In reply to RzSumisu [2011-10-20 21:08:22 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. At the very least if you're gonna put blood everywhere, give it texture and shading and individuality, instead of just scrawling red marker all over the paper and calling it good. XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RzSumisu In reply to PanteraSunrise [2011-10-20 21:44:03 +0000 UTC]

Definitaly, digital especially to spend time on it. Some of the blood brushes on here are amazing. Like I said, I worry about getting too much, but it fades in and out and I put it on thicker in places, so when it dries, it looks REAL. I was damn proud of the blood on this piece and the definition it has.

Scrawing red marker doesnt work. XD I even, for another Grimmjow picture with markers, I wet the marker and smeared it to create a similar effect as with my paintings.
