i'm so sorry

this is the first time i've put this much effort into ocs outside of hetalia, BUT i'm not exactly that in tune with the snk fandom, so if any of you have advice or critique, i'm up for it! to be honest i'm kind of afraid i went a little too overboard with the creativity eheh
i didn't want them to be just average soldiers

Ailu Koski

Ailu is a very gentle and graceful person outside of battle. Before joining the Garrison, he'd never harmed anything in his life. He's calm and collected, which can come off as lifeless to some, but the truth of the matter is that he's actually an uplifting and optimistic boy. Born to a blacksmith and a mother advanced in nursing, Ailu is incredibly clever and good at using his resources. Through hearty amounts of free time he had as a child, while his parents were working, he developed a fondness of puzzles and playing games like hide-and-seek and I Spy with his friends. On his own he would read his parents' books and write stories about adventure; all of which led him to the strategic and silent maneuvering skills he used to graduate as first place in the 105th Trainee Squad.
Both his mother and father are still alive and approved - with pride - of his decision to join the Garrison.

Ailu has long, wispy yet thick pinkish-blonde hair that comes to his mid-back, and is held back with a clip during battle so that it doesn't get snagged on something or grabbed by a titan. His eyes are sea green. He has freckles on the bridge of his nose and somewhat on his cheeks and shoulders. His build is average for a Stationary Guard.

» He enjoys singing soft songs on his own and sometimes to Ilya. He prefers lullabies, this being his favorite.
» His favorite food is anything sweet, particularly strawberry shortcake.
» His childhood friends are Ilya, Opal, and another boy he does not like to talk about. This boy went missing after leaving the district to travel with his father five years ago.
» Afraid that they might die and have a chance of being mis- or unidentified, Ailu had his father make him, Ilya, and Opal I.D. tags, as seen in the drawing above. The tags are made out of thin sheets of aluminum with letters punched in, and contain the individual's full name, home district, and squad number. They hang off their necks via leather cord.

Ilya is much quieter than Ailu and a bit of a mystery to just about everyone. His default expression is zoned out and his default emotion detached. His parents were bakers in a village outside of Yalkell District. After moving to within the district's walls, their business boomed and like Ailu - whom of which he soon met - had a lot of free time on his hands as child. In contrast to his best friend, Ilya spent a large amount of that time wandering outside of the district, in the grassy hills around it. He grew up to be more of a physically skilled boy through climbing trees, timing himself as he sprinted across fields, and jumping down creeks (and eventually whole rivers) by stepping on rocks that jutted out from the water. His favorite thing to do was yank small branches off of bushes and trees and use them as make-pretend 3DMG swords. His physical strength led him to graduating in second place of the 105th Trainee Squad.

Ilya has short, light brown hair and brown eyes. He has a Russian nose, and his build is above average for a soldier in the Stationary Guard.

» Ilya and Ailu are best friends. Ilya is almost always holding Ailu's hand and constantly has an eye on him. He will not allow Ailu to go into battle himself, and will refuse to leave his bedside if he's sick. This can be both a hassle and an advantage, as when they are together in battle, Ilya's strength and Ailu's agility make for a deadly combination. They can practically read one another's mind and movements without uttering a word.
» Before she joined the Scouting Legion, he had a small crush on Opal. Now, however, his attention has focused elsewhere...he admits that he maintains a crush on someone, but he leaves everyone wondering still.
» He speaks Ukrainian between himself and his parents.

Opal is, by the way, a girl. I've yet to draw her, but I have her design.
In case you're wondering if Yalkell District actually exists, it does, but nothing is known about it. Judging by this map , it's hilly and probably one of the most populated districts (it's on the westernmost side of Wall Sina, near the mountain).
