Simple, the furballs are on ancient Terra ( "Earth" as some misguided individuals call our home), thus human remains, maybe even survivors, are unavoidable.

Probably some failed experiment to create organ donors or something like that. Either that or radiation. Because acoording to s0l this is in the year 3500 and something (if I remember correctly), and for humans to evolve fur (Meaning regression, we are currently getting less and less hair) it would take millions of years. You also have the extreme similarity to cats, wolves, dogs etc. and a human mutation would be more like a monkey, or a gorilla. Same similarity also rules out the alien theory, because it would be a miracle if they looked like ANYTHING on this planet, unless they can merge their DNA with that of existing life forms, something that is highly unlikely. Thus the most reasonable theory is, as I stated before, rapid mutation or genetical modification.

Humans wouldnt start growing hair again unless we lost all our technology and started living like native beasts...and judging by the level of technology in the comic, I dont think that happened...This would be a good topic for the forum ^^

Well it's taken a mere 300 years to get to the level of technology we are at now, and with a good 1000 years to mutate into more or less intelligent beings and an additional 500 to develop technology (If they have a larger brain capacity than humans) the furballs are well on their way... Of course, nothing beats humans, just look at Independence Day and Alien... 'Course loads of folks DIED in the Alien movies, but then again they where unarmed civilians, not trained soldiers with heavy armor and a good ole' Vulcan... Then again loads of soldiers died too, but they where dumb, and most got gutted because they where outnumbered, outclawed and outsneaked.
Bleh, I'll stick with pyrotechnics... *Chucks another bomb after the neighbours dog, in fear of it mutating into a ravenous monstrosity any second.*
