What I really like about Undertale is that they gave the most unlike characters a deep connection.Characters you never expected to even know each other share a certain backstory.
Like Sans and Toriel, Undyne and Alphys or, in this case, Mettaton and Napstablook.
Definitely a proof of great story telling.

We have no proof that he's a guy (tho his voice is kinda deep). Just as we have no proof that he's a girl.
Why does it always have to be this question anyway? It's just like that with Frisk. We don't know their gender. Toby Fox did that on purpose, not only so that everyone, girl and boy, can identify with them, but also because it shouldn't matter. The whole game is a middlefinger to everyone who distinguish male and female and to everyone with this old fashioned thinking that homosexuality is unnatural.

The pink house right next to Napstablook's house is acutally Mettaton's house.
He was a ghost just like Napstablook and Alphys built the robot body for him.
Napstablook and Mettaton are probably cousins.
