I actually do have hair myself, so I know what hair can and cannot do, and I can't use it as a backpack. Her ponytail was literally twice as long before he pulled that junk out of it.
I am not saying it violates physics, but her "hair" behaves more like some kind of thick flowing liquid than an actual solid object

There are certain rules that needs to be followed.
Fiction allows for more liberty to be taken but there still need to be consistency.
For instance Wile E. Coyote can run on air, only for as long as he does not realise he runs on air.

Seems like ignoring scale for the sake of some nice cartoon comedy is an established rule that has been followed consistently in this world.
