Description And so it has been redesigned... Too much detail, my comp actually started lagging at points... And I thought this laptop could take on anything... Time to buy RAM...

***
"Many improvements on our battle technologies have been achieved since the original Devourer was commissioned into the battlefield. Attempts to retrofit the AHT were successful; however, only for a short amount of time as eventually the old chassis was not enough to allow for all the updates that High Command wanted to do.

A total redesign of the vehicle was ordered.

Soon after the redesigned Devourer Mark II was properly tested and approved, it was released for mass-production and immediately shipped to replace every single one of its predecessors.

The success rate of the Devourer Mark II vs. the Mark I was so radical and massive that it simply demanded to be reassigned as the Main Battle Hover-Tank for the Terra Forces of the Empire.

The Devourer Class – MBHT is almost twice as heavy and twice more powerful than its predecessor, yet it is extremely versatile and flexible, it can engage in almost any type of mission; from Frontal Assault to Escort Duty. This tank has everything it needs to survive and thrive in almost any battlefield.
Its main weapon, of course, is its enormous 200mm Double-Barrel Anti-Armor Cannon mounted on top of its chassis. These cannons offer an unprecedented destructive power on a massive scale, using a new technology of solid composite-metal slugs that are supercharged with highly unstable and highly destructive energies, they can easily rip enemy armor or positions to shreds, they also have a very good shield penetration ratio.
The MBHT also has superior Anti-Personnel performance, boosting two Dual-Barrel Anti-Infantry Blaster Turrets that offer a very wide angle of coverage in each side, plus two single barrel ones on the front. These guns assure that the Devourer still retains its feared reputation on the battlefield.
Finally, the Mark II also has two separate missile launching tubes with different kinds of ordnance, from Armor Piercing to Highly Explosive. These Ground To Ground missiles are only used when some form of fire support is required as they, by far, are no match to the power of the main gun.

Defensively, the MBHT has much tougher shields and much thicker armor than its predecessor, making it even harder to destroy.

One of the new technologies installed on the Mark II are Anti-Gravity Field Generators on the underside. These "Grill-like" instruments allow the devourer to completely levitate off the ground. This new technology offers a smoother, more stable, cleaner, and much less power-consuming ride than the engines that were used before. Also, the implementations of small, yet powerful thrusters on the sides give the Mark II the same maneuverability than its predecessor, even though it is twice as bulky.

The Mark II carries a crew of three, a Pilot, a Gunner, and a Commander.

Perhaps the only disadvantage of this design is that it could consume massive amounts of power, causing its energy generator to work harder and release huge amounts of exhaust heat which, if not properly managed, can translate into serious damage for the Devourer itself.

All and all, the Devourer Class – Main Battle Hover-Tank has been a round success. Living up and surpassing the solid reputation of its predecessor, this tank will be basically the spearhead of all future Imperial Assaults, simply because it can take on the challenge.”

That Hovertank is one ugly sumnabitch, and that's they way they should be. I love the way the description was written like a technical report.

Again, awesome model my friend

Something I really like about its texture is that its low contrast, so geometry details can still be seen easily. I'd really want to see that finished scene!!!
BTW why u don't like the glows? I think they look good

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

s2f In reply to adox-tnw [2005-10-22 20:02:03 +0000 UTC]

Thank you so much for the thought, dude. Yeah, I'm also really looking forward to doing and finishing the scene

About the glows, I like the engine ones, but there's something about the green buddy lights that just dont' seem right to me... :S

darkMyke [2005-10-19 14:59:09 +0000 UTC]

Very nice, even though the scene throws it off. It seems to be quite jaggy at some places and...oh well, I'm just too picky
Great thing, it's also nice to see even more views of the render.

And, as already asked, what are you machine specs? You definitely need some RAM when you're computer is already lagging when working on a model with less than 100 000 faces.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

s2f In reply to darkMyke [2005-10-19 18:35:36 +0000 UTC]

Yeah the jagginess is cuz I forgot to increase the subdivision rate of meltalray... Then I had no time to re-render these... So I just placed it on (The slight PS manipulation that I did also made these jaggedness come out more)

I got a 1.8GHz, 256 GeForce Go 6800, and 512 RAM... I definetely need RAM as I have also proven it with certain games... Plus max can be a heavy biatch when it wants to

.....damnit Seb, I'm making you pay for my jaw replacement surgery!

Seriously, KICKASS model! Damn....

Just one gripe... the upside down shot looks wierd... I think it would look more 'normal' without the ground.

LOL!!!!!!

Thanks a lot dude, really appreciate it!

Thank you!

Yeah dude, I hate it, any ideas or suggestions with the glows?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Mallacore In reply to s2f [2005-10-20 12:50:35 +0000 UTC]

Well you could reduce the glow amount but leave it with luminosity.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

s2f In reply to Mallacore [2005-10-20 21:44:25 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I guess that would work fine with the buddy lights... But I need it for the engines tho...

Mallacore In reply to s2f [2005-10-20 23:09:28 +0000 UTC]

I think for the engines the glow is fine. Just a bit too much on the rest.
