Looks like something that Asami Sato would ride! Sweet ride, by the way.

This is cool and all, but that front wheel seems really far forward. How would she be able to steer the thing with that wheel far forward and that engine in the way?

Instead of a classic motorbike front fork, an automobile-like frame should run from below the saddle to the extreme front end and carry the weight of the engine, headlamps, cooling system and suspension. Steering runs by two horizontal automobile tie-rods on the sides, which move a pivot at the front wheel. The handlebar drives an automobile-like steering box which moves the tie-rods. This - the steering box with reduction ratio like in a car - is an absolute necessity, otherwise the rider should have superhuman strength to steer so much weight.

So basically what you're saying by placing the front wheel so far up, and connecting the steering handlebar between the cooling system suspension etcetera etcetera, it would make it easier to steer than a conventional motorbike?
Yeah, I know motorbikes are heavy but seeing as how I haven't driven one, are they really that hard to steer. Some guys I talked with say its pretty easy.
Anyways, great explanation.

Due to the size of the vehicle, engine and needed gearbox, plus strong steel frame, fuel and rider, the machine can't be made lighter than 300-350 kg and still work. Most likely it would be on the heavy side of 350 kg.
For this reason, steering directly like people do with a classic ~120-150 kg motorbike would not be easy unless the rider has the arms of a weightlifter.
A motorbike approaching a small car in size requires same technical solutions as a car to work properly.

So basically you just said it would be easier to steer rather than a traditional direct steering like a regular bike.
I know.

There aren't 2 engines. It has a four-row radial engine in front and a big reductor gearbox where the engine would be in a classic bike, driving rear wheel. Thus the rider's weight and the engine's weight are in balance and it makes perfect engineering sense.
Maybe s2ka is an engineer himself?

Thanks! I'm no engineer but I am fascinated with machines.

how would the steering work though. The front wheel is too far up, really misplaced.

Thanks and good point. Although not visible. I planned the steering to work much like in a regular automobile - using hydraulic operated rods that run along the sides of the engine transferring the action from the steering column to the front wheel. At least that's how I figured it would work.

Hmm... that seems interesting too.
Do you think you could make a blue print of it?
Well, that would be hard wouldn't it?

I *could* nit-pic at the engineering redundancy, but it's just such a cool pic, all I'm gonna say is "great job"!

It doesn't matter if it's redundant, it's Dieselpunk, brotha!!! Long as it's a loud awesome heap of metal that goes really fast, I love it.

Harley Davidson meets Oldsmobile?
Did you ever see the American movie "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow?" Great retro movie, even the part when the Atomic Rocket was to ignite, it would burn up the Earth's atmosphere, a real fear of the Nuclear physicists of that period!

Not a bad idea, two gorgeous women pilots, one rides up in her '40 superbike, the other on her retro scout ultra-light ready to battle the Nazi's.
Maybe a third English girl sunning herself, but sun in England? 40's bathing suits? My grandmother wore less cloth to the beach than 40's fashions!
