Despite my pride in my German roots, my German language is not the best. (I am a multi-generation German American; Iβm half German from my father, but neither him, nor I, nor his parents came from Deutschland. His ancestors did, way back, so I wasnβt as exposed to German culture as Iβd like. Though some of the foods and the lederhosen I can do without.) I sang 'Silent Night' in German one time, though!
Sadly, the proud German people have been represented by the losers and jackasses in society. Hitler and his cronies, of course. George Armstrong Custer (God, I hate that... I can't even call him a man). The head DB at Andersonville POW camp. I have a personal hatred for the latter, because I have a great-great-really-great ancestor who was at Andersonville.
