I finished it in time~! I was afraid I wouldn't have anything finished by this Sunday to upload but I just finished this!
Considering these two come from entirely different countries and times, the fact that they end up together in my ridiculous headcanon means that they must be tied together by fate, hehe. A lot had to go just right for them to find each other. And they did. And they're so cute aaah
I rushed the background a bit to get it done in time so that's the main thing I'm not really happy with. At some point I might go back and make a better one. But for now, here it is
Now next Sunday, idk if I'll have anything to upload, I'm going back to school soon... meh... guess we'll see

well, not exactly. It's an old Chinese superstition/myth sort of thing, which has its own version in Japan and other cultures; that two people who are soulmates are bound together by a red string

It's been a while since I played through Okami (I'm on my third playthrough now), so my memory might be a bit hazy.
If I remember correctly, there's some sort of gate in Inner Yoshpet up in Kamui. When Ammy and Issun went through it, it took them back one hundred years. If it can take people back a century, then I don't see any reason why it can't take them forward several years.
Of course, the game only ever stated that it could take people back in time. Not once was going forward in time mentioned. Still, I don't think it said that it couldn't take people forward in time.
If that's possible, then I guess Ammy went through it out of sheer curiosity and ended up in modern times, and she met Dante while she was in human form (I'm still working out how she would turn into a kitsune).
If any of what I said is flawed, feel free to correct me. But hey, that's just a theory. A Game Theory! Thanks for reading!

not a bad theory! Though kitsune is fox, not wolf, so there's one thing. But keep in mind it is canon that she has a humanoid form, as the spirit outside the Gale Shrine stated, since he could see what people, or animals, truly were. So I just imagine that she chooses not to take human form back then, as it would just make things unnecessarily complicated.
And the spirit gate can canonically take people into the future, as Issun's grandfather Ishaku did it with Shiranui to help Amaterasu and Issun fight Leckhu and Neckhu

yep! I can't remember his exact words but he said something like he could see their true essence or what was inside or something like that. He called Ammy a 'fair maiden' or 'beautiful maiden' and called Issun... a 'booger'
