Description This here is a Green Tree Python, one of the snakes you'll find at JungleWorld and/or the World of Reptiles at the Bronx Zoo. This snake is native to the rainforests of New Guinea and northeast Australia. Hence its name, this python lives in trees and is indeed green (though begin as either yellow or red when it's newly hatched). However, this snake descends to the ground to hunt rodents, especially rats (which are this python's favorite prey). Heat-sensing pits line this reptile's snout and lower jaw. This python species grows up to a length of six feet.
