Description

In the rocky ledges of Mount Cabela, a coyote lies down on a ledge and relaxes, enjoying the view from its position. Native to the North American continent, the coyote is known to be highly adaptive, living in various habitats, from woodlands to deserts, to even the mountains. It even has a generalist diet, consisting of deer, rabbits, hares, rodents, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and invertebrates, and also fruits and vegetables on occasion. The greatest threats to coyotes are gray wolves, cougars, and humans. In spite of humans being their greatest threat, however, coyotes have adapted and learned to live near people, making their home even in cities. The coyote is associated with Native American tales and legends, where it was known as a trickster. The coyote had been given some aliases, like the American jackal, the prairie wolf, and the brush wolf.
