I recently adopted a dragon. She's such a beautiful design that I had to make a 3D pen model of her. I thought it might be quite interesting to do a few uploads of the process, so I'm going to put them up a few stages at a time. Here are the second batch of four.

Photo 1, top left. Starting to construct the legs. Note the base line. The legs in the original drawing have been reduced for perspective. Remember to correct this!

Photo 2, top right. Legs made, 1st one fitted. I had to include this photo. I fitted the leg and then stood it on the board to check the angles; to my surprise it stood by itself! Clever Girl!!! You can make out the outlines of the adjusted legs on the drawing. Remember to make two left and right pairs.

Photo 3, bottom left. Legs added and moulded into the shape of the body.

Photo 4, bottom right. Wings made and fitted, horns added. Again, remember to make left and right pairs.

She's ready for painting.

Please note that I am not claiming that this is the best, proper or only way to make a model like this. It's just the way that I do it. If you're looking at this planning to do a 3D pen model of your own, then use whatever method you feel comfortable with - there's plenty of "how to" tutorials out there. The most important thing is that you enjoy making your model. (oh, and again, don't burn yourself. That's still pretty important too )
