Personality:
Having seen one too many deaths as his time as a doctor has given Simon a fairly pessimistic view on life. He is very serious and likes getting the job done fast and right the first time. He refrains from making friendships with people and usually answers back with sarcastic responses or cutting words in an effort to drive people away. He believes he has no time for such things and would like to keep it that way. When emotionally stressed, he tends to throw himself into work and ignore the outside world. He is not humble AT ALL and likes to flaunt his achievements in people's faces while belittiling them but at least he knows to shut up when he has stepped over the line. Thanks to his time as a doctor, he can keep a calm head in hectic situations and form good enough plans. He doesn't know what to think about Pokemon, considering he lived in the center of GoldenRod City and didn't have a lot of contact with them apart from the occasional Meowth. He seems to like Rubicante, since the pokemon obeys his orders well enough and doesn't bother him too much on off duty times, apart from the occassional demand for pets and cuddles.

As the rounds progressed, his desperation to save others at the cost of his own health becomes apparent. Even though he didn't want any sort of friendships, he made some anyway after realising that it gets damn lonely and boring around here. He has an issue with rejection (thanks to his father's abandonment, his fiancee leaving him and the Hospital Director firing him) and doesn't take too kindly to defectors. He doesn't truly find the Rogues' agenda so horrible but does believe that they have gone the wrong way about it. His beef rests with the soldiers who used to be part of his squad and can't find it within himself to trust them.

Backstory:
Simon has had a relatively normal life prior to entering the war. He was the only child of a happy family in Goldenrod City and had a thirst for knowledge, which was the cause for regular trips to the library and hospital. The hospital intrigued him the most and when he finished university with high marks he immediately applied for the Goldenrod Hospital. All was well for a while until a string of misfortunes fell on his head. His mother was afflicted with cancer and despite her son's efforts, she did not overcome the disease and died. His father was dismayed and enraged that his own son couldn't save his wife and as a result, turned to drinking. Needless to say, Simon was shattered by this and became closed off to friends and others. Due to his sudden change in behaviour, even his fiancee left him for another, which drove Simon to become more engrossed in his work. His life revolved around his job and neglects himself.

Simon is one of the head doctors in Goldenrod city but despite this accomplishment, he is shunned for his rough attitude and often blatant disrespect for the higher ups on the medical board. Despite this, he is fully dedicated to helping people, encouraged by the death of his mother to save others. He was finally kicked out of the hospital and had his license removed after he disregarded orders to not provide medical treatment on a young girl. Humiliated and having next to no chance of finding work, Simon was close to giving it all up in favour for drinking when he was spotted by a military official and was persuaded into joining the army. If he helped out and survived the war, he was promised his license back. What else does he have to look forward to anyway?

As of ROUND 1
Simon is found to have trouble with higher officials, even going as far as to punch one. He also finds out that one of his only friends, Patrick Lance, has also entered the army but as a Medic rather than a soldier. He often finds himself with nothing to do. As he proves that he is a competent soldier, he receives Flu for his troubles.

As of ROUND 2
Despite losing Unova, Simon comes back home intact and not a single member of his team was lost. However, he is troubled over his room mate (Fred Curtsinger) and lover's (Iris LeMarc) injuries. After the battle of Unova, the arrival of his ex-fiancee, Alicia and her husband Charles Javier Roosevelt along with the little girl he treated, brought tension levels to a new high, which caused him to lash out at fellow soldier, Rory McClain. He lost the fight and the respect of several of his team mates. Rather than feel anger and resentful towards others, he feels embarrasment and finds that he needs to change his attitude. He is attempting to have less of an ego and to care more about other's feelings.

Pokemon

Rubicante | Typhlosion | Jolly Nature | Blaze | Male:
Rubicante has no idea what is going. What he does know is that he has a talent of getting out of cages but not this round red ball things. He also knows that the man he has been assigned with is a very sad man. That won't do. Rubicante has made it his mission to make this man happy. Because he also knows that's what he does best.

Rubicante is incredibly easy going. He was tricked into falling into an army trap and didn't realise it was a trap until he was put in a pokeball. When chosen by Simon, he saw a person closed off and in need and was determined to put a smile on his face by working hard for him, despite the fact that the training the military gave him hasn't really set in his skull all that well.

A fully grown Typhlosion, Rubi is finally feeling the pressure to do better and has accepted his responsibilities with some hesitation. He really wants everyone to get along but he also wants to please Simon leading to major amounts of hesitation that gets everyone annoyed and angry.

Flu | Fearow | Hasty Nature | Keen Eye | Male:
Simon's new pokemon Flu is... a bit of a worry. He is incredibly loud and incredibly protective of things he considers his own, which happens to be whatever he happens to be sitting on. Tends to act before thinking and won't obey anyone elses orders except Simon's (unless Flu thinks that Simon doesn't know what he is doing, in which case he does his own thing). If Flu had his way he would've flown away long ago, but Simon gives it free food so he changed his mind.

After the battle of Ecruteak, Flu feels even more brash and smug about taking down the EMP all by himself and thinks he is the GREATEST OF THEM ALL and ergo needs no one to boss him around. Simon is content in letting him do his own thing; he knows that Flu will eventually come back to him for food (and Flu can't say no to free food and cuddles). The only worry the man has is that Flu will attempt to take on something bigger and deadlier than him...

Mother | Chansey | Brave Nature | Natural Cure | Female:
Mother lives up to her species' expectations: she is dutiful, caring and friendly to all. Except Simon. She happened to witness Simon's lash out with Rory and now holds a bad opinion of him. She was convinced to stick around by Rubi, whom she cares about deeply. She is cautious around other humans but will offer her healing services. She is way more relaxed around Pokemon; they are the only ones who have the honour of receiving her lucky egg.

After the battle of Ecruteak, Mother feels a bit more relaxed around Simon. She has seen what he will do for others and although she finds it admirable she is still cautious around him.

Jensen | Bisharp | Serious Nature | Defiant | Male:
It is no secret that although Simon cares for his pokemon, and a few care for him back, they don't react too well during battle or don't heed his commands. In comes Jensen, a serious, no-nonsense, shiny Bisharp who follows orders to the T and does it well. He is used to being in his pokeball when not battling but Simon insists on all his pokemon out after the EMP disaster. Jensen finds this awkward and doesn't know how to handle Rubi's giant bear hugs. Or Flu sitting on his shoulders. Or Mother fussing over him. or anything really.

Trivia:
The little girl he treated misheard his last name and though his surname was Poppet rather than Potter. Somehow, it stuck.
He abstains from drinking. His father drank before him and he turned into an alcoholic, so Simon doesn't want to share the same fate.
He also has a fear of small, dark spaces and holes he cannot see the bottom of.
