Description
Note: These creatures come from an old abandoned spec-evo project. Map of the world , for more context.A variety of creatures from several parts of the world (not to scale).
Left column (From top to bottom)
1. A sessile cuttlefish descendant from the Sand Plateau. The branching radula now serves to collect plankton from the water column. This species has lost its tentacles and the eyes are vestigial.
2. A herbivorous turtle descendant from Cheland. 200 million years have brought a complete loss of the shell, a warm-blooded metabolism, longer limbs and an erect posture. This creature now runs to scape its enemies.
Right column (From top to bottom)
1. A chicken descendant from the swamps of Fowria. It feeds on water plants with its broad beak. Their ancestors lost their wings, so it runs to deeper water to flee terrestrial predators, and to land to avoid aquatic ones.
2. Though superficially reptilian, this creature is actually a heavily derived mouse lemur, after 200 million years of living on the Spire Lands. Cold-blooded metabolism allowed the ancestor of its lineage to survive a mass extinction event 100 million years ago. It inhabits the now shrinking plateaus, the only place for an animal its size.
3. Another mouse lemur descendant, this is a carnivorous one. Being much more agile, it can traverse the branches and vines that connect the spires.
4. The apex predator of the savannahs and forests of Cheland, a gigantic turtle which has lost its shell. The species is currently colonizing Fowria.
