“Mauritius, 1598. Three dodos have gathered on the beach to forage. The sun shines, the local birds sing, and the waves of a turquoise sea gently crash onto a beach of white sand. It is a day as any other on their island, their sanctuary, the only home their species has or will ever know. However, a new, strange object now stands out on the horizon: a ship. A particularly observant dodo notices it, something that it has never seen in its life. And yet, it’s not very concerned; so far away that it is, it is impossible for it to cause it any harm. It will probably go away soon... It has no way of knowing that this particular sight, in this particularly peaceful morning, is actually marking the beginning of the end.”
