Description
A really rough idea of my Despicable Me OC, Caltonya (Cal-Ton-yah)She will appear in my attempt at a DM fanfic which focuses on the true nature of Victor Perkins aka Vector.
Short Bio:
Caltonya was born in Bakal, Russia. Her parents died while on a hiking trip through the mountains from an avalanche. She gets sent away to an orphanage near Moscow where she is adopted by Mr. Perkins, in hopes of using the girl to get back at Gru for making a mockery of him. He sends Vector to pick the girl up and bring her back with him. Mr. Perkins instructs his son that she must stay with him, much to Vector's dismay and that he must somehow get Caltonya to form a close relationship with Gru, gain his trust, then lure Gru to him (Mr. Perkins) believing her Russian background is the perfect scapegoat.
Thats all Im gonna say for now without revealing too much about the story in general, but I think you can get a clear idea where this is headed.

I totally have an idea for a fic like that, only it would be like a sequel to the movie.
Basically, Vector's whole life is turned upside-down. First of all he adopts FOUR kids to prove he's still better than Gru, at first treating them as objects, but then learning to treat them as human children. And second, he hires people to help out around his house since he's so busy with the kids and being a villain, and he and one of his new maids end up falling in love. The whole thing with learning to deal with the kids would give him the satisfaction of finally knowing what a loving family is like and what a father SHOULD be like, and the love interest would allow him to accept himself for who he truly is, because in true love people love each other for what they are on the inside.
My idea is also to bring up memories from Vector's past, some canon and some half-fabricated but still obvious (eg. being teased, having a mean father, trouble making friends...) in certain situations. Like when he starts treating the kids as human beings, it would be because he remembered some of his only friends used him because his family was rich and didn't care who he was as a person.

Ya, thats how I wanted to treat mine as too, like a sequel idea, but in this case, I don't have a love interest for Vector, and he only takes in one kid, Caltonya (who is a scapegoat for a plan to get back at Gru, which is mainly his fathers idea. Vector follows along for awhile, until Caltonya makes him see that being HIMSELF is not a bad thing and because shes always trying to impress Vector, he also realizes, though that, that he doesn't have to impress his father anymore either

I love characterization stories~
Mine would aim at him...
- Realizing that people aren't just objects and that they may have had the same struggles as him,
- Accepting himself for who he really is,
- Learning that there's people who will accept him like that,
and
- Learning how a true loving family is and having the satisfaction of being in one of those families.

My motto is that most villains have a reason, a story behind why they act the way they do.
For example:
- Gru's mom was a jerk and crushed his dreams.
- Vector's dad expects him to be super-son or something.
and from other shows/movies
- Dr. Doofenshmirtz from the show Phineas and Ferb had several horrible things happen in his childhood.
- Scar from The Lion King and Zira from The Lion King 2 were exiled from their pride.
Basically, I see villains as broken souls who are tired of being stepped on and not treated equally, so they're fighting back.
Look up the song "White Knuckles" by Alter Bridge. It's like a ballad explaining their situation.
