Description
I just recently started listening to the band Ludo.
I loved "Love Me Dead" before, but I never knew any of their other songs so I began to listen. Well my love for them solidified when I heard "Drunken Lament" and of course I was still in my charcoal experimentation phase and when I heard that song, I realized that it was totally a Snape/Lily song.
So here in this drawing, Snape is visited by Lily. I had a thought while drawing this that if Snape had had the same chance Harry did to call back the dead, I think this would have been the image of his and Lily's reunion.
I wish you guys could see the glow I had made around Lily with the charcoal, you can't really tell now but it was a halo of light around her. But I think you can still tell there's a strong light from her based on Snape's shadows right?
I noticed something when I did these drawings: I just can't resist men in black!
If you haven't heard Ludo you totally should! Here's the lyrics to "Drunken Lament"; just so you can get the feel of this drawing:
"Drunken Lament"
"Self-loathing is quaint,"
you told me, showing restraint.
Now you're gone and I'm lost,
In the swells I am tossed -
bobbing and choking and losing the fight in the fog.
You said, "Forever..." Tell me, why can't you stay?
[Chorus]
I'd ride in your pocket all day,
but I just don't fit.
Say the word and I'll change.
I'm throwin' a party tonight.
I drink more than a sailor on shore.
Pour the rum in my eyes, tell me lies.
Oh, oh-oh-oh, Oh, oh-oh-oh
Drunk since Saturday,
without you, without restraint.
It still stings where you stung.
Water swings in my lungs.
I'm starving for words that would ration my sadness away.
Tell me, "Forever..."
Tell me you'll come back to stay.
[Chorus]
I'd ride in your pocket all day,
but I just don't fit.
Say the word and I'll change.
I'm throwin' a party tonight.
I drink more than a sailor on shore.
Pour the rum in my eyes, tell me lies.
You were the mermaid for me
'til one day you found your feet
leaving me in this god-awful bottle
a model of heartache and grief.
[Chorus]
I'd ride in your pocket all day,
but I just don't fit.
Say the word and I'll change.
I'm throwin' a party tonight.
I drink more than a sailor on shore.
Pour the rum in my eyes, tell me lies.

Sad. Sad, sad, sad, did I mention SAD?
I loved the shading, it really looks like she is all iluminated (and slowling fading away).
